To celebrate and to coincide with the 70th anniversary of Campbell’s first Water Speed Record on Coniston Water. The Bluebird K7 Festival will be held at the lake
between the 11th – 17th May 2026.

A classic bit of Cumbrian trivia for you. Even though the region is world-famous for its "lakes," the geography is technically a bit of a naming trick.

Did you know that out of the 16 major bodies of water in the Lake District, only Bassenthwaite Lake actually earns the title? Every other "lake" is technically a mere or a water—think Windermere or Derwent Water.
