Despite the heatwave parching all of our grazing paddocks, we’ve managed to keep the plants on the cottage’s private patio in full bloom thanks to regular use of the watering can. Our visitors really appreciate a quiet colourful spot to appreciate the views and the weather, and maybe fire up the Barbecue 😊.

The two ‘look alike’ palm trees (Cordyline) at the back of the cottage are really at home in the heat of course, one of them has even flowered giving the bees a real treat.

Much as we’ve enjoyed the sunshine we are in serious need of heavy rain, the countryside and its wildlife are suffering and farmers are struggling to keep livestock in good health.

Despite the weather not being quite as friendly as in the last few weeks, our latest guest went home this morning having had a “wonderfully relaxing time”. This lady was spending some ‘me’ time away from the usual hustle and bustle and was kind enough to say that our little cottage was the best holiday rental she’d ever stayed in.

We’re really proud to say that several guests have said that too us before, but it’s a massive boost to us when it happens and really makes all the effort we put to making Little Springs Farm Cottage the perfect getaway, worthwhile.

This was the first visit of the guest who left us today and she said it wouldn’t be her last. The guests who are checking in this afternoon said the same thing ten years ago, and this will be their 22nd visit. They’re one of many couples who are regular visitors, and we’d love to welcome you if you decide to see why people spend time here year after year.

Shropshire’s not quite as green as it usually is at the moment, given the lack of rain that most of us are experiencing. Our sheep are munching through the very last of our green grass and we’ll soon be having to feed them the hay that we cut only 3 or 4 weeks ago - things don’t bode well for the winter.

There’s always a silver lining though and the weather has been brilliant for our visitors, who’ve really made the most of the fantastic things there are to see and do in this fabulous county of ours.

Our latest visitors have just left and have written the following very kind comments in our visitors book ….. “ a short visit this time to extend our holiday en route home, just as lovely as 2018 when we last stayed. Little Springs is a perfect example of the best holiday cottage you could choose, clean, quiet and perfectly looked after - we will return, thank you Su & Ron”.
