I’ve recently discovered Melanie-Louise, the most wonderful gift shop in Ledbury, absolutely packed to the gunnels with beautiful and imaginative gifts.

Whilst buying a present for a friend, I picked up this book, East of the Sun West of the Moon by Jackie Morris. It is a Norwegian Fairy Tale, beautifully illustrated and beautifully written. I got completely lost in a World far removed from farm life. I enjoyed it very much indeed and couldn’t put it down. I’ve had some very relaxing hours lying on the carpet with Pomme engrossed in this story and eager to find out what happens next.

If you are looking for a story to loose yourself in, pop along to Melanie Louise and get a copy for yourself. It’s very reasonably priced at £16.99. She has other beautiful books too.

If you fancy a day out in London whist you are staying at Middletown Farm Cottages, you can easily take the train

I took the train from Gloucester Station and was at Paddington Station in London in just over an hour and a half with no changes. The train went on a picturesque journey through Stroud and Kemble as well as Swindon and Reading.

I then took the underground to Sloane Square and walked to the Royal Hospital Chelsea for the Global Champions Arabians Tour, I saw some very famous Arabian horses from all over the World

Lovely evening sitting in the on a comfortable seat at the Sherborne Cinema Gloucester Graham and I watched OdysseyMovie and enjoyed some delicious snacks. This film is three hours long and we were all very grateful for a break and leg stretch half way through.

I won a beautiful Sherborne Cinema mug in the raffle and there it was waiting for me when I arrived.

I love this gorgeous little cinema and the warm friendly atmosphere there. We always have a nice chat with the owners and the other cinema goers.

Harts Barn at Longhope in the Forest of Dean is just 20 minutes drive from Middletown Farm.

There is the Harts Barn Cookery School and a lovely selection of independent shops to explore.

Graham and I joined Cherry and Andrew for the most delicious Sunday Roast at the Old Dairy Tearoom and it was utterly delicious. Succulent roast beef and turkey with home made sauces and gravy and Yorkshire pudding and the most enormous selection of fresh vegetables glistening in a light coating of butter. The Yorkshire puddings were so light and delicious. The stuffing was a rather nice surprise, being flavoursome and slightly crunchy on top. We all really felt that the cook had gone to a lot of trouble to make these fabulous meals absolutely perfect for us all.

We enjoyed chatting with the other customers and the owners and staff at The Old Dairy Tearoom and looking at all the lovely things they had for sale including fourteen varieties of tea.

We had such a wonderful time - Cherry and Andrew booked in for a brunch with some of their friends who will be staying with them in a couple of weeks time

I can highly recommend The Old Dairy Tearoom for any meal or snack at any time of the day.

There is a pop up pub in Upleadon Village Hall every month. Today, Patty Boy, a new local business run by a family of parents and fourteen year old twins, had their first stand selling their burgers. There was an excellent selection and they were all very popular. So good to see a new local business making a great start.
