❤️ 40 Years Later… Back Where It All Began! ❤️

Today we were delighted to welcome Chris and Linda Edge back to the Glen-Yr-Afon to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.

There have certainly been a few changes here over the past four decades! When Chris and Linda celebrated their wedding with us 40 years ago, the Glen-Yr-Afon was much smaller, our ballroom hadn’t even been built, and their wedding reception took place in a marquee in the grounds.

Fast forward 40 years, and it was wonderful to see them return and reminisce about their special day. Also making it special was having Ros, who was Linda’s bridesmaid all those years ago, and her husband Nigel joining them for the celebrations.

It’s always a pleasure when couples return to the Glen-Yr-Afon to celebrate another chapter in their story — and Chris and Linda’s is certainly a special one. 🥂

Congratulations to you both on 40 wonderful years of marriage, from everyone at the Glen-Yr-Afon. ❤️

🥾 Six Go Walking! 🍂🇺🇸

No, not the latest Enid Blyton novel… but the Women on the Move gang , who have been walking and travelling together since 2003!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Lori, Amy, Pat, Carol, Mais and Janice from the USA to the Glen-Yr-Afon as part of their walking tour of South Wales.

They’ve been exploring the beautiful Usk Valley, with the first hints of those gorgeous autumn colours beginning to appear. 🍁🥾

It was lovely to have you all stay with us, ladies. We hope you enjoyed the walking, the scenery and, of course, your time at the Glen-Yr-Afon!

💍 THANK YOU, CAROL! 🥂

Yesterday marked the end of an incredible 19 years for our wonderful Wedding Coordinator, Carol, here at the Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel.

Over nearly two decades, Carol has played a huge part in helping so many couples plan and enjoy their special day. From the initial planning and organisation to making sure everything runs smoothly on the big day, her experience, knowledge and attention to detail have been invaluable.

We’d like to say a massive thank you, Carol, for everything you have done for the hotel, our wedding team and, of course, all the wonderful couples you have looked after over the years.

Nineteen years is quite an achievement, and you’ve certainly made your mark on the Glen-Yr-Afon! We’ll miss having you as part of the team and wish you all the very best for the future. ❤️

And now, it’s time to welcome Claire, who takes over this exciting role. 💍

Claire is joining us as our new Wedding Coordinator and we’re delighted to have her on board. We’re looking forward to seeing her bring her own ideas and enthusiasm to the role and continuing to create fantastic wedding days for our couples.

🌞 Afternoon Tea on the Lawn! 🫖🍰

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Afternoon Tea on the Lawn! 💕

The weather was just perfect — not too hot, plenty of shade beneath our gazebo, delicious afternoon tea and, of course, the wonderful sounds of Mighty Fozzy providing the entertainment! 🎶

It was fantastic to see so many of you enjoying the afternoon with us. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

👑 Sixty Years of Happiness 👑

We recently had the great pleasure of welcoming Bernard & Mair Williams to the Glen-Yr-Afon to celebrate a truly wonderful milestone — their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. 💎❤️

Bernard & Mair are longstanding friends and clients of the hotel, and chose to mark 60 wonderful years of marriage with a sumptuous Afternoon Tea in our Library, surrounded by close family and friends.

Our Afternoon Teas are certainly fit for a King and Queen — which was just as well, because nestling amongst the many cards and congratulations was one very special card from Buckingham Palace, with Their Majesties sending their best wishes to the happy couple on reaching such an incredible milestone! 👑💌

Congratulations Bernard & Mair — 60 years of love, laughter and memories. ❤️

🚶‍♂️ The final leg of an incredible journey! 💙

We had the great pleasure of welcoming the Prostate Cymru team to the Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel as they reached the final stages of their incredible Walk of Wales challenge.

And what a challenge it has been! The team are now on Day 42 of 44, walking from Redbrook to Sudbrook today, before continuing on to Newport and finally Cardiff, where they will complete their epic journey. 👏

The goal is to raise an amazing £300,000 to help Prostate Cymru continue their vital work supporting men and families across Wales and raising awareness of prostate cancer. 💙
