Nothing at all to do with railways, but if you are on the Island and find yourself in Ventnor with an hour to kill, and with a bit of a thirst, then you must sample this absolute time warp survivor from a lost age, ‘The Volunteer’.
It is the last trading Burts pub in the town, although Burts are now long gone of course (their beer was brewed with spring water that had filtered through the Downs above the town).
This is how pubs used to be when we had time to chat to each other!

Our slow-roasted Pork Belly Bites, glazed with sea salt, chilli and BBQ, drizzled with BBQ sauce and finished with fresh chillies and spring onions...

Tempura Torpedo Prawns served with miso mayo, all paired with our perfectly crispy Skinny Fries, sea salt and aioli.

Now that's a lunch worth getting excited about! 🤤

Ventnor putting green at Ventnor park, can walk to from the villas, it’s a nice walk and great to visit for fun and relax in Ventnor Park.
