⛺️** IT’S A CAMPING WRAP **⛺️

And that’s officially a wrap on our 2026 camping season! The camping gates have been locked till 2027!

Thank you to EVERYONE who came and stayed with us this year. You could have gone to any campsite but in that moment you came to stay with us and we don’t take that for granted!

Thank you to those who came back to stay and to those who stayed for the first time. To those who booked our bell tents and who became our first season families in our Ready Tent, Canvas Camp and our little Micro Cabin. We are so happy to have met you all and to have hosted you all 🥰

We are also extremely grateful to everyone who has taken the time to leave us a review whether it’s been on Facebook, Google or Pitch Up. As a small family run campsite these mean the world to us and reminds us that there are many people who love simple basic camping in a field just like us! Thank you for your kind words and 5⭐️🥰

This year we experimented on a longer season from May and it worked so well and so we will adopt the same season next year opening Friday 28th May 2027 in time for the May half term!

So tonight is our last camping night for 2026 and what a weekend to go out on 💨🌧️😂

Hardcore campers and the grass is rejoicing!

How bloomin’ lucky are we to welcome such awesome people!

I know we’ve been open since May but it feels like it’s flown by!

How are we closing the gates tomorrow?? Time flies when you’re having fun eh!

Loving the vibe on the meadow today! Yes it’s windy, yes it’s wet but the kids are out playing, campers have battened down their tents or taken shelter near the hedge and new memories are being made!

I mean really……have you truly camped if you’ve never done a windy rainy camp out!

Total respect for our hardcore campers, all with a smile on their faces!

Your team deserves a play date too.

Seriously.

Get them out of the office, classroom, ward, bar or shop floor and give them three acres of meadow to let their hair down.

Welly wanging. Space hoppers. Rounders. Campfire grub. Ridiculous challenges. Fresh air. Plenty of laughing at each other.

Nothing compulsory. No awkward icebreakers. No PowerPoint. No beige meeting rooms.

Just a genuinely brilliant day out with the people you spend half your life with.

Well… it had to happen eventually. 😂☔️

After what has been an absolutely glorious, ridiculously sunny, and hot summer at Rusty Meadow, the weather gods have taken one look at our LAST WEEKEND OF 2026 and gone…

“Bank Holiday, you say?”

🌧️🌧️🌧️

But we refuse to let a bit of rain call time on summer, although our grass is celebrating!

Pack the waterproofs. Bring the wellies. Chuck in an extra blanket. Let the kids get muddy. Sit under the awning with a cuppa. Accept that the dog is going to smell questionable.

Because life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.

And if you’ve been meaning to squeeze in one last camping trip before the tents get packed away for another year, this is it.

*Complete transparency post…..*

I love what we have created at Rusty Meadow, i really do. We are limited to what we can do as a temporary seasonal site but we’ve done our best to add as much as we can to support our guests, from our charging hut, to bike tools and pumps, communal kids game boxes, kids activity sheets etc….

But sometimes I can get caught in ‘comparisonitis’ a horrid affliction where you regularly ask yourself whether you have done ‘enough’ or whether you could do more. Wondering about all the things you DON’T have rather than reminding yourself of what you DO have!

Then I have to talk myself through the facts….Rusty Meadow is EXACTLY the kind of campsite we love and wanted to build. Simple camping, no frills, traditional camping where you go back to basics and enjoy just being together in a field or exploring the area around you.

We never aspired for club houses and bars, we don’t have a pool or a beach. What we do have is a lovely big space, with gorgeous sunsets and views, lovely walks, cycle routes, a short stroll to the pubs and a vibe that is all about chill time.

And that is exactly what we wanted and what we tried to create with Rusty Meadow and it’s those people who want the same that come and stay with us, and if you want the other stuff then there are lots of other sites that can give you the other stuff.

As we head to the end of our season and look ahead already to 2027, aside from a few tweaks here and there ( I mean, there is always room for continual improvement right!) we don’t want to change a thing!

Rusty Meadow is what it is and we love it just as it is! 🥰❤️🥰

And when we get reviews and feedback like this, it’s a constant reminder to stay clearly in our lane and own our own little space in the island campsite scene.

We NEVER take these reviews for granted and we are grateful for each and every one as these days reviews are an important part of a campers decision making process.

Thank you so much to everyone who has and continues to stay with us! You could go anywhere but you’ve chosen in that moment to come to us.

What if your next team day involved absolutely no team building?

No targets. No KPIs. No awkward icebreakers.

Just a whole day out of the office having actual fun.

Throw a welly. Get ridiculously competitive over games you haven’t played since you were 10. Take on the Rusty Olympics. Make something. Go for a wander. Laugh with your colleagues. Stop for a seriously good lunch. Then go and play some more.

There is only one thing you’re expected to achieve.

Fun. Lots of it.
