THE ROTARY CLUB OF WAKEFIELD CHANTRY
XMAS HAMPERS APPEAL 2025

Once again, the residents of Wakefield have responded to our annual Xmas Hamper Appeal with donations starting to roll in.

The appeal, is organised by Chantry Rotary Club and CAP (the Community Awareness Programme) and supported by the Wakefield Express. The appeal is now around 10years old and still going strong. Every year individuals, organisations and businesses in the Wakefield and 5 towns area, put their hands in their pockets to support this wonderful appeal to provide Xmas Hampers to deserving families and families in need. The distribution of the Hampers is handled through the Children First Organisation and ensures that they get to those who’s need is greatest.

This year is no exception, with many groups once again giving their help and support to the appeal. Two great examples of people supporting the appeal have surfaced and our pictures this week show them. Don & Jenny Ward, in Notton village organise the Hamper donations from there. Don said “A big thankyou to Notton residents for providing 30+ boxes of food to continue their support of the Rotary/CAP Christmas Hamper Appeal. We are always blown away at how much support we get from the Village.” In Wakefield, Jill Brookling and her neighbours, have supported this Rotary Appeal for a number of years and this year is no exception with circa 10-15 hampers being donated.

And there is still time for anyone else who wants to support the appeal to get on board. We need food/finished hampers delivered to CAP in Market Street by Friday 21st November please. If anyone want to make a financial donation, please do so at CAP. They are at 2-8 Market Street in Wakefield and Manager, Kevin Dobson, will be happy to accept it on behalf of the appeal.

For finished hampers, we need them by 21st November, but please remember 2 hard rules: -
Firstly – NO Alcohol
Secondly – No fresh, chilled or frozen foods.
You should include the following foods in the hamper: - - TEA OR COFFEE, SUGAR, LONG LIFE MILK, BREAKFAST CEREALS, TINNED POTATOES OR INSTANT MASH, A SMALL SELECTION OF TINNED VEGETABLES, STUFFING, TINNED MEAT, PASTA OR RICE, PASTA IN SAUCE, CUP SOUPS, GRAVY MIX, TINNED FRUIT,
JUICE OR SQUASH, JAMS, BISCUITS, CHILDRENS XMAS SWEETS AND A BOX OF CHOCOLATES.

2 lap top computers being accepted by the Charity Home Start to help out a family who’s boys will now be able to do their homework and school work much more easily than on mum’s smart phone!!
The computers have been given to Home Start by Chantry Rotary Club and were donated by their Corporate Member Central Fieldwork based in Wakefield. They have been refurbished by “Wakefield Technology 4 All”.
Another example of Chantry helping their local community.
