Donald Rumsfelt got a lot of stick for his speech on what people know they know and what they know they don’t know; but it’s the things we don’t know that we don’t know that are the issue. But he nailed it with regards why experienced motorcyclists crash. There is knowledge and riding skills that we can equip motorcyclists with, that will help to prevent them from being involved in a motorcycle collision, but we have to engage with them first to make them aware of the unknown unknowns first and that’s where the DocBike comes into its element.
Being a Doctor or Paramedic emergency motorcycle and especially when associated with the local air ambulance service, acts as a real draw for motorcyclists to come and chat, find out more and support the DocBike in their area. By getting involved with the charity, they support its values and help to change the culture of riding in their area to that of bikers who know how to handle their bikes, have fun, but also know how to avoid being in a bike crash.
