Heritage lives in the things we carry with us.

The recipes passed down through generations.
The stories told around the dinner table.
The songs we know by heart.
The traditions that bring families together.

Some are old. Some are new. But together, they become part of the story of who we are.

This Heritage Day, we celebrate the many cultures, traditions and stories that make South Africa what it is.

A heritage worth sharing. A story worth remembering. 🇿🇦

🌍 It’s Tourism Month in South Africa.

And there’s so much to love about this amazing country.

Game drives and the Big Five in some amazing game reserves 🦁
Beautiful beaches and sunny summer days
The stunning Drakensberg mountains ⛰️
Long lunches, good food and a bottle of South African w**e
And of course, a traditional braai with friends and family 🔥

But probably the best thing about South Africa is the people. Always a smile, a chat and a warm welcome. ❤️

Africa isn’t just somewhere you visit. It’s a place that stays in your heart.

Next stop on our Overland through Namibia and Botswana was the Cheetah Conservation Fund.
This organisation is helping save the cheetah from extinction. Cheetah Conservation Fund’s holistic conservation strategy is the key to success in saving the cheetah and its ecosystem. CCF works to develop best practices that benefit the entire ecosystem upon which the cheetah depends. CCF’s programs address the concerns for wildlife populations and the human communities that share the landscape.

When is the best time to visit South Africa? 🇿🇦

If we had a pound for every time we were asked this, we’d probably be on safari right now. 😉

🐘 Want to tick a Big Five safari off your bucket list? The cooler winter months are fantastic for spotting wildlife.

☀️ Chasing sunshine, beach days and long summer evenings? You’ll love the warmer months.

🌸 Prefer stunning landscapes, colourful wildflowers and everything feeling fresh? Spring is hard to beat.

That’s one of the things we love most about South Africa - every season tells a different story - one trip might have you watching elephants at sunrise, exploring Cape Town’s iconic coastline or soaking up the breathtaking views of the Drakensberg.

Thinking about a trip but not sure when to book? Pop us a message - we’d love to help you plan the perfect South African adventure.

On our Namibian adventure our next stop was 1 night at Cape Cross to see the Seal Colony. The lodge is set looking straight out to the Atlantic Ocean with amazing views. The Seal 🦭 colony is much bigger the we expected apparently getting up to 250,000 🦭.
Definitely had a very strong smell and not that pleasant.

Connection to the modern world has been difficult, but the Namibian adventure has been amazing so far.
A quick catch up was an overnight stay at a small game farm near Windhoek before a 3rd spectacular night at Spitzkoppe.
