Coming in a close third after Canterbury and Bath (we can’t argue with that!), our beautiful Wells has been voted the third best small city in the UK.
In a Telegraph article written by Chris Moss, Wells came out near the top in rankings including tourist attractions, pubs, restaurants and shops. He described Wells as ‘old and handsome’. We couldn’t agree more 😊

Hello sun! Nice to see you again after quite a hiatus! This was yesterday evening after Choral Evensong at the Cathedral. Glorious. And more to come this week apparently. Spring is definitely in the air 😊

It’s a bit grim out there at the moment so it’s lovely to receive one of our annual awards … it is awards season after all! I’m almost in my 12th year of doing this job and I still absolutely love it. And this is an extra special year as Andy and his boys will be moving in with us to balance out the female - male ratio! Not to mention our forthcoming nuptials! Andy is already very much a part of what we do here and although he has his ‘proper’ job he is totally hands on with the running of the business. As a bonus he brings his wine expertise to the table (literally!) for our guests who have dinners in house, or just a glass in the lounge. I also might benefit from that bonus! Thank you to Andy, my girls and our wonderful guests. I feel very blessed and have a feeling that 2026 is going to be a great year. 😊

January was a long old month. Today was the Epiphany Procession and Carols at Wells Cathedral and our friend and sacred geometrist Tom Bree created a labyrinth in the centre of the nave. It was a little bit of magic at the beginning of a new month. Beautiful service. Full moon tonight ….

Then just as we arrived home the sun poked through the clouds and we saw the most wonderful rainbow, not captured particularly well by me as usual!
