Holly Nowell and Mary-Ellen, her daughter, welcome you to their beautiful home in the heart of the Somerset countryside.

Beryl Country House - accomodation and award winning breakfasts; nestling in the Mendip hills, one mile from the centre of the cathedral city of Wells, and close to the historic towns of Glastonbury and Bath. Built in 1838 this Gothic Revival style Country House is a real treasure, set in 13 acres of parkland and gardens, which have been skillfully restored. Beryl is tastefully furnished with antiques and offers you hospitality of the highest order.

We’re delighted to say that ‘We’ve now opened again for the year’, we’ve been busy refreshing the house and grounds. After 45 years of loyal service the carpet in the drawing room has now been retired and an update on the paint work and a lovely new carpet is now in place. It was a bit of a project as it’s not a small area! This wonderful room now looks even more elegant, perfect for relaxing on arrival with Tea and Homemade cake.

🍂 1st September marks the end of pool season at Beryl Country House. Our majestic Copper Beech is starting to let go of its leaves, and with the extra debris, even the filters know it’s time to rest!

While we bid farewell to summer swims, our hearts turn to the beauty of autumn — glowing colours, crisp mornings, and joyful countryside walks. 🌿✨

This season, we’re celebrating the beautiful harvest of crisp apples and juicy pears from our very own walled garden. 🍏🍐 When you arrive, you’ll get to taste these homegrown delights in a special homemade Somerset apple and cinnamon cake—just our little way of saying welcome. 🥧✨

HOUSEKEEPING HERO WANTED! 🌟We are currently recruiting for a housekeeping position. 2 mornings per week 10am- 1.30pm, flexible days to include some weekends.
