Cheeky little extra job because they couldn’t come and get the digger until lunchtime today.

It’s got planning permission for a 10’x8’ shed so I’ve dug out somewhere to put it. Not perfectly level by any means but a hell of a lot better than my first attempt last week. I didn’t do a before photo, but you can clearly see where the soil and turf were.

Seems like a hell of a big Shed just for cleaning stuff!

Digger day 5 - used the digger as a scoop because I didn’t want to take it back down and cut up the grass and mud anymor...

Digger day 5 - used the digger as a scoop because I didn’t want to take it back down and cut up the grass and mud anymore. So hand barrowed 12 loads of gravel and four of topsoil down to the cabin. I re-topped the path and the lovely Glyn turned up with his front loader and redid the car park. Finished off round the patio

Then cleaned the cabin for guests, popped out for shopping and then built a trellis and put in two Clematis, built a raised bed to fill in the space. I’m going to fill it with herbs and nice colourful stuff

That’s phase one done. Come back in about two weeks for phase 2!

Digger day 4. Huge amount done today. Patio finished it just needs tidying up around the edges, all the building materials tidied up ready for the guest tomorrow and thanks to my wonderful neighbour two doors up (that’s about half a mile), Glyn Thomas, popping in to help for half an hour - he levelled all the spoil and scraped as much of the mud off the grass as he could. Not something I could have even attempted!

So a huge hugely successful day despite the rain and hail!

Digger day 3… didn’t use the digger. Torrential rain overnight continued on and off all day, and Teranis (Thor) kindly sent me hailstones a couple of times which was delightful.

So I manually barrowed the slabs and the sand down to save using the digger and cutting up the grass even more. I have about 35 hours before the guests arrive… it’s looking better but a lot still to do

Digger day 2… what a nightmare. Pipes fixed, so that’s sorted, back filled and leveled, ton bag of MOT ripped on the way...

Digger day 2… what a nightmare. Pipes fixed, so that’s sorted, back filled and leveled, ton bag of MOT ripped on the way down the hill so had to (hand) shovel it back up. MOT base in for 3/4 of the space.. site looks like the bloody Somme and now it’s raining hard so it’s a bog and I can’t use the digger

Back is starting to really ache and I haven’t even started the slabs 🤣
