Set in 700 acres of glorious, unspoiled Hertfordshire countryside, with the river Mimram winding through its grounds, this unique, characterful, AA 4 star hotel is conveniently located just outside the towns of Hertford and Welwyn Garden City. There's easy access to the A1 and excellent local rail links to London, the Midlands and the North. The ultimate country venue for Weddings & Celebrations in Hertfordshire, Corporate Meetings, Conferences and great luxury leisure breaks. All of our bedrooms are individually designed, en suite doubles, some converted from the original 17th Century farm buildings. Our award-winning, farm-to-fork Cowshed Restaurant is open to both residents and non-residents.

Our Woodland Light Trail is back for Christmas 2026 and tickets are selling fast!

We've taken on board your feedback from last year and have made some big changes. The same woodland route, but this year with bigger and brighter light installations, more interactive displays and a completely reimagined experience from start to finish.

Expect illuminated woodland, immersive light displays, Santa's storytelling tent, reindeer feeding, marshmallow toasting and plenty of festive food and drink.

Finish your evening at our après-ski bar with live music every night, hot drinks and something to eat.

We've put a huge amount of work into making this year's trail our best yet and can't wait to welcome everyone back to the farm.

26 November to 30 December | Selected dates

Dog friendly, pram friendly, wheelchair friendly with a slight adjustment through one of the woods as there's a small area with no path - we've done out best to make it as accessible as possible.

Tickets are already selling fast, with limited availability on some dates. Book early to secure your preferred evening.

SLOW FLOW, STRETCH & SOUND BATH
Join Georgia Testa, founder of Studio 281, for an afternoon of Pilates-inspired movement, deep stretching, breathwork and a restorative sound bath, followed by refreshments.

Last week, Oktoberfest. Next, Roots in the woods.

Autumn on the farm continues with Mel Brown at Roots on 17 October. A long table in the trees, cooking over fire and w**e poured by Humble Grape.

On 21 October, we’re heading to Piedmont with the Ruggeri Corsini W**e Dinner.

Add cookery workshops and live music at the Stable to the diary. Plenty of reasons to spend a little more time on the farm.
