he original 19th century Victorian shepherd's hut. It makes for the ideal hideaway and rural retreat taking you back in time for a truly relaxing and unique place to stay. Set within the peaceful tranquillity of an organic farm the Shepherd's Rest is the perfect retreat for a relaxing holiday while being only 22 miles from the centre of Edinburgh, 30 from the hustle of Glasgow and 7 miles from the designer shops of Livingston. A perfect base for exploring many areas of scenic Scotland. Travel north, south, east or west and you won't be disappointed....

Did you know.. 🤔

Cobbinshaw reservoir is the main feeder for the Union Canal and provides water via the Bog Burn, Murieston Water and through Mid Calder to the Almond Aqueduct & Lin’s Mill Canal Feeder!

Our waterway management team visit the site regularly to inspect the reservoir, and when needed, manage the flow of water feeding into the canal.
