The Ram Inn has been at the heart of a vibrant farming community for over five hundred years. A wonderful village local, set in Firle, at the foot of the Downs and in the South Downs National Park. The rambling old building has three main bar areas, each with its own open fire lit every day between October and April. At the bar you will find artists, walkers, writers, farmers, farriers and vicars,

and the garden is usually full of families and children of all ages. Now known for really good local food as well as locally produced cask ales, we also have four beautiful bedrooms and offer bed & breakfast all year round.

Still thinking about how best to treat your mum this Mother’s Day? We’ve got you covered

Join us on Sunday 15th March for a two or three course set menu, featuring our famous roast dinners alongside some beautiful new dishes for spring 🌿

With a little hopeful thinking for the English weather, we’ll also be serving a more casual à la carte menu outside. This will be first come, first served and we won’t be taking bookings for outside, so if the sun makes an appearance, how about a walk around Firle followed by an al fresco lunch on the Ram Inn Beach

Or why not make a weekend of it? We have our last three rooms available, so slow down and enjoy a little extra time together in the heart of the village.

DEXTER BEEF TASTING MENU

We are very excited to introduce a winter treat this February at the Ram. Join us on Thursday 5th for an 8-course Dexter beef tasting menu, celebrating exceptional beef reared at Firle Place Farm, just a five minute walk from the pub.

Expect live cooking on our wood-fired oven (great British weather permitting), with each dish cooked, served and introduced by our Head Chef, Joel.

And that’s not all, each dish is thoughtfully paired with wines from iconic producer , and .uk Director, Toby will guide you through their story with notes to complement each course.

Firle is our favourite place to be over Christmas and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Make the Ram your home away from home and join us for a 2-night-stay from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day to sample the very best of village life, with plenty of surprises in store!

CHRISTMAS EVE
Check-In from 3pm at the Ram to be greeted with a bottle of English Sparkling & Mince Pies on arrival.
We recommend arriving before 5pm to catch the carolers, who gather at the pub before heading off for a lantern-lit walk through the village.
Relax in the pub, get to know the locals, or finish some last minute wrapping in your room before enjoying our winter menu for a 3-course dinner in our restaurant. Wander up to Midnight mass in Firle Church before cosying up in one of our eight rooms

CHRISTMAS DAY
Join us for a very special start to the day with our Christmas Champagne Breakfast
Don’t forget to pack your wellies and make time for a muddy Christmas walk before our 6-course Christmas Lunch (served at 12pm or 3pm)
Spend the evening cosied up next to one of our open fires, enjoy a round of toads or a Christmas game and if you get peckish, help yourself to our side board of meats, cheeses and festive treats.

BOXING DAY
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before check-out at 11am & squeeze in another quick walk before the drive home or stick around for lunch.
