Fun fact about rheas: They're stay at home dads!

Did you know? Male rheas handle parenting solo. After constructing the ground nest and incubating the eggs for roughly six weeks, the male hatches the chicks, then feeds, guides, and fiercely defends them for up to six months all while the females leave to mate with other males.

This might explain why our Rosie's so fiercely independent! She now has 8 eggs in the orchard – one more than last year!

The Cheddar clifftop trail offers some of the most spectacular views in the UK. This route takes you from the quiet, undulating paths of Velvet Bottom Nature Reserve straight up to the jaw-dropping edge of the gorge looking out over the reservoir. Velvet Bottom’s old mining map is full of brilliantly bonkers names like Cows Hole and Sows Hole (not rude at all – just old mining terms for pits and swallets!)

Don't forget your camera, the resident shaggy-coated goats love a photo op 📸
