What a fantastic week we had celebrating our Autumn Star Party last week!

From an incredible display of the Aurora Borealis lighting up the night sky to exploring the wonders of the cosmos through observing and astrophotography, it was a truly memorable week!

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us and shared their incredible imagery. We’re delighted to share some of these beautiful captures with you, celebrating the magic of the night sky and inspiring others to look up, explore, and feel a deeper connection with our universe.

It’s Red Squirrel Appreciation Week!

Did you know that Kelling Heath has been helping to protect one of Britain’s most treasured native species for more than 25 years?

We joined the Red Squirrel Breeding Programme in 1999, as part of wider conservation effort to support this endangered species. Since then, we’ve welcomed dozens of red squirrel kittens here at Kelling Heath, with youngsters going on to support carefully managed conservation projects elsewhere in the UK.

Red squirrels were once a familiar sight across Britain, but their numbers have declined dramatically, particularly following the introduction of non-native grey squirrels. Kelling Heath was one of the last places in Norfolk where wild red squirrels were found before they disappeared from the county.

Today, our squirrels play an important role in helping people learn more about this special species and about the conservation work needed to give red squirrels a future in the wild.

So, this Red Squirrel Appreciation Week, we’re celebrating these beautiful little woodland characters and everyone working to protect them.

Last weekend, Kelling Heath came alive with the magic of Wild Sky!

From family crafts and children’s entertainment to astronomy, nature walks, fancy dress and meeting some very special owls, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

It was fantastic to see the event so busy, with families making memories and enjoying everything Wild Sky had to offer. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us - and to our photographer for capturing these wonderful moments.

From Monday, astronomers will arrive for the start of our annual Autumn Star Party, when our touring areas are dedicated to astronomers gathering together and enjoying the incredible dark skies at Kelling Heath.

On a clear night, you can look up and see the stars of Orion and even the Milky Way with the naked eye - a spectacular reminder of just how special our skies are.

October is almost here, and we’re looking forward to welcoming guests to the woodland as the autumn colours begin to transform the trees into beautiful hues of golden orange and brown.

From crisp autumn walks and cosy woodland breaks to stargazing and family adventures, there’s plenty to look forward to this month.

Our Autumn Star Party runs from Monday 5th October - Monday 12th October. During the event, lighting on Park is covered or switched off to minimise light pollution, allowing astronomers to observe the night sky in the best possible conditions.

Due to the sensitive nature of stargazing, the even is limited to astronomers and their families. However, new members are always welcome, limited pitches remain.

At the end of the month, our October Half Term programme will bring plenty of activities and entertainment, including Axe Throwing, Circus Skills, Archery, Wildlife and Nature Walks, Forest School and Craft. There will also be our popular Pumpkin Carving, Fancy Dress Parade and Children's Entertainment.

Our Holiday Homes are now fully booked, but a few spaces remain for touring and camping pitches and Woodland Lodges.
