The King’s Dip Event to Bring Regal Fun to Weymouth Seafront
A unique celebration inspired by royal tradition is set to make waves in Weymouth next summer as The King’s Dip Event arrives on the Esplanade on Sunday 7 June 2026.
Running from 11am to 5pm in the Community Square by the King’s Statue and Beach Office, the event promises a full day of music, dancing, community performances and seaside entertainment — all with a distinctly regal flavour.
Festivities begin earlier in the morning at 10.30am with a King George III procession departing the E-bike Café at Harbourside before travelling to Brewers Quay and returning over the Town Bridge to the Esplanade.
The official opening takes place at 11am, led by the Deputy Lieutenant of Dorset and the Mayor of Weymouth.
Entertainment throughout the day includes performances from Dashing Dickie, Georgian and Regency dancers, Weymouth Community Choir, Weymouth Concert Band, Dorset Wrecks and Quangle Wangle Choir.
A highlight of the afternoon will be “The Dip” activities at 2pm featuring the Blue T**s dippers and guests, celebrating the town’s love of sea swimming and coastal community spirit.
Organisers say the programme is designed to be flexible, with timings approximate to allow the day to flow naturally and encourage visitors to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
The event closes at 5pm following farewell speeches and royal thank-yous.
The King’s Dip Event is expected to attract residents and visitors alike, combining Weymouth’s rich Georgian heritage with modern community celebration on the seafront.
