About R Hotels

The Richmoor Hotel was purchased 21 years ago by Loraine Godwin and her family. They ran the 33 bed hotel for many years as a family business, having coaching holidays, themed weekends and building a ‘home from home’ reputation for the hotel.

In July 2018, We took over the Hotel Mon Ami. The Mon Ami is the 43 bed hotel located right next door to the Richmoor. We have long term hopes of joining the 2 buildings together to make one of the biggest hotels in Weymouth.

The Mon Ami as we took it over, was extremely dated and in need of a lot of love. We began refurbishments, starting with the restaurant, gone was the skittle alley and stage, in goes the larger bar, new flooring and furnishings. Even a brand new kitchen! We have refurbished most of the common areas, fresh carpet throughout the hotel, with less than half of the rooms to go until this hotel is restored to it’s former glory! Guests that have stayed in the Mon Ami with the old owners have come back and commented on how shocking the changes are, even how unrecognizable some rooms are after complete restructuring. We really can’t wait for the changes ahead.

The reception for both hotels is ran from the Richmoor. The Richmoor still offers the ‘home from home’ feel for all guests past and present. Only now, rather than having breakfast in the small restaurant that is Shelley’s, it is now served in The Three Chimneys next door, (accessible just down the steps between the 2 hotels). Meaning guests have a much more pleasant breakfast experience, with even more food to offer!
