A couple of photos taken early morning on Weymouth beach yesterday. The Splashdance swimmers had finished their dancing on the sands and entered the sea for their swim and locals were enjoying a horse ride before anyone else was awake. Beautiful.

We are full for September but have started taking October bookings.

October is our personal favourite month in Dorset, quiet beaches, autumn colours, a serene sea.

It is really nice when our guests comment on the artwork in Little House at the Seaside. We are gradually replacing generic artwork with original pieces by local artists. You’ll find acrylics, textile art and oil paintings along with local pottery items there. There is so much local talent it would be rude not to showcase it!

So here it is, the famous rock arch of Durdle Door near Lulworth (photograph courtesy of Jess, taken today, a friend of Little House) Some people think it looks like a drinking dinosaur which is pretty apt for a Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

But did you know that in the headland the arch extends from there is a sea cave? Only accessible to divers it has 2 chambers, the inner chamber filled with circling fish and unbelievable natural light, from a fissure high in the rock above. It’s beautiful.

We have half of September still available so if you’re quick you can stay with us in the best month of the year, in our opinion - the long range forecast looks settled and warm and the crowds have all gone….

Quiddles Cafe were about to start cooking outdoors yesterday at Chesil Cove. The smell of paella filled the air, you can buy a seafood or vegetarian one in a cardboard box and take it down to the edge of the sea to eat.
