It’s been a while since I hopped onto Insta and with very good reason. We have just celebrated our best August since we took to this wonderful calling almost 9 years ago. To say it has been busy is the biggest understatement of all time. Our occupancy is up by 25% and we have welcomed over 80 guests (many of them returners from home and abroad). That’s a lot of breakfasts and room servicing. The weather has been a godsend and a curse. A godsend for our guests, our business and our frequent trips across the road to our front garden - sun, sea and sand (well, pebbles) but a curse when the temperature in the kitchen has, on many an occasion, reached over 40 degrees and we’ve enviously watched folk frolicking on the beach when we’ve been wrestling with quilt covers and shower screens. I’ve lost all track of time and day. Monday? Friday? They’re all the same in the life of a B&Ber. And we wouldn’t have it any other way (well, occasionally we would) and when we do, we take ourselves out to revel in all Wonderful Weymouth has to offer. We’ve eaten in some of the finest restaurants, had a drink in the best hostelries and revelled in the beauty of our bay and harbour. We’ve been occasional tourists and envied those who are. The 1 September marks the beginning of a more tranquil town but rumour has it that the mercury is set to rise again and our booking diary is buzzing. If these random shots or the thought of a September (or October) break in our fabulous town are calling to you, you know what to do. Don’t delay, book today and book direct for the best prices. Wonderful Weymouth is ready and waiting. See you soon.

The 1 September welcomes in our, extremely popular, ‘Bruschetta Breakfast’. Moonblush tomatoes, à la Nigella on lemony whipped ricotta with bacon shards and toasted sourdough. If this whets your appetite and tickles your fancy, you know what to do. But, don’t delay, book today and book direct for best prices. I’m off to roast some more tomatoes.

Best we could get without glasses but at least we can say we were there.

It’s been mighty busy in Wonderful Weymouth recently and mighty busy at The View. The one constant (the thing that keeps me sane) has been my rowing. It doesn’t matter how manic business is (it has been, and we’re pleased for it) rowing can banish all aches, pains and weariness. It has been as hot here as everywhere else (too hot to sit on the beach at times) and it’s been very hot rowing but, somehow, being on the water tricks you into feeling cool. OK, that’s a complete fib, it’s been flippin’ hot on the water too and the Stamina and Technique and Rigorous rows (for that is what they are named) only contribute to the hotness. More than once I’ve imagined ditching the oar and jumping into the sea but I just couldn’t let my fellow rowers down. Usually, when I have rows booked, I’m constantly checking my trusty weather app but this summer has been so constantly fab that I’ve given up looking. (I did take a sneak peek earlier today and next week is looking equally as fab.) Today (Rigorous Row, and it was) was just brill. We managed to get to the breakwater, despite the wind, and almost completed the harbour blast but the attempt was thwarted by the harbour ferry. Despite all obstacles, a great time was had by all and I enjoyed it so much I think I’ll do it all again tomorrow. Have a wonderful hump day evening.

Lucky guests staying on Brunswick Terrace, lucky us living here.

This went down a storm this morning. I quite fancied it myself.

Who needs abroad when we have it all here, in Weybiza aka Wonderful Weymouth. We had a guest walk to Lulworth Cove yesterday (I know) and she said that she thought she’d stumbled over to Corfu, only better. When I say don’t delay, book today, I really mean it, the sun chasers are leaving very little room in this here town.

We went off piste for Sunday lunch today. First, a roast in the middle of a heatwave and, second, our first time cooking and eating an M&S (no less) tomapork. I served it with potatoes roasted in clotted cream (try, try, try), confit carrots and cauliflower cheese. A good time was had by all. The pork was the most delicious, tender meat.

Forgot to say that the swoosh can also be heard from the dining room. It does have to vie for attention above the chilled music though.

And there they are. Freshly foraged blackberries nestled within the fruit bowl.

View and swoosh 1

Can you picture yourself enjoying a mighty fine breakfast here?

Ready and waiting for our guests.

Looking good.

That’s a wrap!
