Such a stunning autumn day. The sun shone on the dogs back on the beach. Dora was more excited than was entirely necessary. She made friends with folk throwing stones and those paddling in the sea and she bundled an unwitting Chica who didn’t seem to mind and bundled right back. The Pink House was looking pretty as a picture and Greenhill Gardens were simply stunning. It’s hard to think that this is all on our doorstep - we still have to pinch ourselves. Our walk was a bit of a tranquil respite from all the madness taking place in town. 100s of pirates have descended on Wonderful Weymouth and they are having a ball. The Pirate Fest is just one of the many events that take place in Weymouth every year. Still to come we have Motocross, 40s/50s Weekend, Zombie Launch and a Halloween Parade. And that’s just October, don’t get me started on November and December. Suffice to say we’ve got Bonfire Night, Elf Parade, Steampunk, Carols by the Coast, Chase the Pudding and The Harbour Swim to look forward to and that’s to name but a few. The weather’s looking pretty good too but if a bit of the inclement stuff hits we’ve got pubs with roaring fires aplenty. If you’ve not booked that autumn/winter break (and plenty have) it’s time to do so right now. Remember book direct for best prices. Look forward to welcoming you soon.

Last night’s dinner, today’s breakfast special. Yesterday - colcannon, fried egg and gammon. Today - ‘The Scottish Breakfast’, fried egg atop a fried colcannon cake with crispy smoked bacon. A perfect Sunday morning special, methinks.

One new breakfast special, one newish-old. Number 1 is hastily entitled ‘Middle-Eastern Mushrooms’ - mushrooms fried with shallots and garlic on a bed of smoked hummus with toasted sourdough. This one has 2 secret ingredients - 1 to add an extra hit of umami and 1 to add a slight sweetness. My lips are sealed.

Shot 2 is ‘Bruschetta Breakfast’ usually served with a smoked bacon shard but, this time, with soft-poached eggs as our guests were veggie.
