A reasuring post for our dear guests just to make things clear regards today's industry shocking statement regards dogs no longer staying in our amazing cottage (and all cottages within the largest holiday cottage group in the UK) for free. The charge will be £30 per dog which is totally unacceptable to us as well as you. We have for 15 years always allowed dogs to stay here for free... it is what we do... we love dogs!... it is our ethos and we would never dream of charging for dogs. A very sad day.Please speak to me if this makes your holiday too expensive.

A very nice gastro pub in the picturesque village of Hayfield. Just a short drive from the cottage.

You had a glimpse yesterday, and here it is in all its glory.
The lamb shepherds pie for two.

12 hour mint & honey braised lamb shoulder meat, topped with creamy duchess potatoes to add some finesse to this hearty home classic. A vision of proper pub food refined and updated for a new audience.
On until it’s gone.

A very nice dog friendly stop off.

Starting tomorrow we have a Coffee and Cake for £6.95. Our cakes are made locally by a fabulous cake maker in Whaley Bridge. This weeks cake is a choice between Carrot Cake (GF) pictured. Lemon Layer cake. Warm Chocolate Brownie (GF).

Coffee is also supplied by a Whaley coffee roaster Ground Effect Coffee Roasters

We try to support as many local and independent businesses as possible at Bridge & Barrel

Pop in for a coffee and a cake between 10am and 7pm, 7 days a week.

Cakes delivered daily for freshness.

This is a great walk from the cottage and they do very yummy cakes.

It's a beautiful day to go for a walk along the Peak Forest Canal 💚

Why not stop off at ours for a top tier cuppa and a slice of the finest cake supplied by the wonderful

If you're not sure how to find us (the public footpath stickers have mysteriously peeled off the green metal gate), simply use Google Maps and it will tell you when you turn off the canal. Alternatively, you can reach us via the cobbled Calico Lane just off Station Road/Marsh Lane.
