Sunshine, pub food, and a pint in the beer garden…

Beer garden drinks with the moors behind you, small plates to share, proper mains, and something sweet afterwards while the evening’s still warm.

The Lamb Belly Tacos have been going down well, the Grilled Half Chicken’s made for summer evenings, and there’s plenty on the dessert menu worth leaving room for.

Whether you’ve been out and about in Danby and the North York Moors or you’re just after a proper pub to settle into for the afternoon, Fox & Hounds comes into its own with the weather we’re meant to be getting this weekend.

Saturday and Sunday are fully booked for stays now, but there’s still a bit of availability left in the glamping pods on Friday and a few rooms left for Bank Holiday Monday if you fancy stretching the weekend out a little longer.

Small plates, local ale, and summer evenings in the North York Moors.

The new menu at Fox & Hounds Ainthorpe is built around relaxed summer evenings at the pub. A few small plates to share between the table, proper mains if you’re hungry, and seasonal desserts worth leaving room for afterwards.

We recommend two or three small plates each, especially if there’s a pint involved.

Whether you’ve been out walking on the moors or just fancy settling into the pub for the evening, there’s plenty on the menu worth staying a little longer for this summer.

The new menu’s well worth a look if you’re planning a visit.

Worth setting the alarm for this one.

Stay over in one of the glamping pods at Fox & Hounds, head up onto Danby Moor early, and you’ll catch the sunrise rolling in across the towards Whitby and Sandsend.

It’s only a couple of miles, easy going underfoot, and one of those walks that clears your head before the day’s even started.

Then it’s back down for breakfast at the pub.

Fresh air, quiet skies, and a proper start to the morning.

Out here, Sundays are best kept simple.

A walk on the moors, a proper roast at Fox & Hounds in Ainthorpe, and maybe a pint while you’re at it.

Roast beef, plenty of gravy, Yorkshire puddings done right, and somewhere warm to settle in afterwards.

Whitby and Danby are just down the road, but once you’re here, most people don’t rush off anywhere.

If you’ve got Sunday in mind, worth getting a table booked.

We could tell you what it’s like at the Fox & Hounds in Ainthorpe… but this says it better.

"Fantastic 2 night stay. Lovely, bright modern room. Sadly no clear sky to stargaze whilst lying in bed from the window. Dog friendly, quiet, warm and comfortable room.

The food was incredible. All home cooked. Enjoyed a fantastic Sunday lunch. Nice hot breakfast choices. Both full English and French toast were superb.

Will definitely return. Lovely village green setting and such friendly welcoming staff."

We really appreciate reviews, they mean a lot to us. Thank you.

Looking for a bank holiday walk on the moors? 🌿

Danby Moor, North York Moors… views like this are hard to beat.

The climb up, the open moorland, and that first look out across the valley.

Then back down to it…

A drink in the beer garden with those views.
Something proper to eat.

And if you don’t fancy heading home… our glamping pods are right here waiting.

Dinner, a good night’s sleep, and breakfast the next morning before you do it all again.

See you this bank holiday 👋

Spending bank holiday on the moors? 🌿

Heading to Danby or out for a walk? You’re right on the doorstep here.

Start with a drink and see where it takes you… food in the garden with those views, or a proper meal in the pub or dining room if it turns a bit nippy.

Walking boots on, dog in tow… the pub area and pool room are dog friendly, so everyone’s welcome.

Pool table ready, proper food and drinks, and plenty of space to settle in.

Out on the moors or back from a wander, it’s worth stopping a while.

See you this bank holiday weekend 👋

Out here, it’s pretty simple.

Fox & Hounds in Ainthorpe, next to Danby, is a proper country pub in the heart of the North York Moors. Pints poured properly, good pub food.

You’ve got 10 bedrooms if you’re staying over,
8 basic glamping pods out the back if you fancy something a bit different,
and miles of moors and farmland right on your doorstep.

Walks straight from the door, fresh air all day, and somewhere warm waiting when you get back.

Whitby’s just down the road, or on the Esk Valley train if you fancy it, but most people end up staying put once they’re here.

If you’re thinking about a summer staycation, this is one of those places that just works.

Nothing fancy… just done properly.

Train in, hop off at Danby, and you’re pretty much there.

It’s an easy one.

A short walk and you’re straight into the pub, pint being poured, food on the go, no need to rush anywhere.

Fancy a pint of Striding The Riding? Brewed just down the road and well worth a go.

Then it’s Sunday lunch.

Roast beef, porchetta, plenty of gravy… the kind of meal that makes a walk out on the moors worth it.

And if you’ve got the time, you’ve got miles of it right on the doorstep.

If you’ve got a Sunday in mind, worth getting a table sorted.

Can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday.

There are over 100 Fox & Hounds pubs in the UK… but this one’s tucked away in the North York Moors.

And it’s a bit of a gem.

You’ve got rooms if you’re staying the night,
pods out the back if you fancy something different,
and space to park up if you’re passing through in a camper.

Then there’s the pub itself.

Fire going when it’s nippy out, pints poured properly, and food that’s exactly what you want after a day out on the moors.

Sundays especially… can’t beat a proper roast.

It’s not trying to be anything it’s not.
Just a really good place to land for a night or two.

We see a lot of people come once… and then come back again.
