âEvery now and then we realise weâve forgotten to tell our own story.
Over the past few weeks weâve seen lots of conversations about accessible places to stay in Whitby, which is fantastic, but many still are one room, limited bathroom facilities and no hoist options.
It reminded us that many people still donât know Summerfield exists, weâre still building our platform and getting the word out there!
If accessibility is something your family depends on, weâd love to introduce ourselves.
At Summerfield Farm Holidays, accessibility has never been an add on. Itâs been at the heart of what weâve done from day one.
Today we have đfive accessibleđholiday properties, including our newly refurbished Freedom Lodge, giving families a choice of different spaces because every guestâs needs are different too.
Hereâs what youâll find at SummerfieldâŚ
⨠Step-free, level access that works in everyday life
đ Parking right outside your door
đż Gardens and outdoor space to enjoy
đĄ Five different properties, each with their own layout and equipment
đ ď¸ Specialist equipment included as standard, not charged as an extra
đ§ Equipment thatâs regularly serviced, checked and maintained
đ§âđ§âđ§âđ§ Family friendly, dog friendly, carer friendly sleeping up to 6 people
From ceiling track hoists and profiling beds, to Sara Stedy and Atlas stand aids, mobile hoists, paediatric seating and hydraulic shower trolleys, itâs equipment we know well because weâve worked with it and supported families using it for many years.
Between us, Ben and Kara bring backgrounds in SEND education, outdoor instruction, social work, hands on care and climbing in adaptive environments. That experience shapes so many of the decisions weâve made here.
If we recommend something or tell you itâll work, itâs because weâve seen it in real life, not just read it in a brochure.
Your stay doesnât stop when you arrive either.
Over the years weâve built some fantastic relationships with local organisations to help make visiting Whitby that bit easier.
đ Whitby beach access with Whitby, Scarborough and Ryedale Disability Action Group(Disabled Action Group)
đ Trips out with Wetwheels Yorkshire
đ Our own collection of recommendations for accessible cafĂŠs, days out, routes and places to visit, all built from experience and ready for guests to use.
We know planning an accessible holiday can come with lots of questions.
Will the equipment be suitable?
Will there be enough space?
Will it actually work for us?
Those are exactly the conversations weâre happy to have, because every family is different.
Weâve shared a few photos today to give you a look around some of our accessible accommodation, including Freedom Lodge. They only show a small part of what we offer, but hopefully theyâll give you a feel for what Summerfield is all about.
If this is the first time youâve come across Summerfield, welcome. Weâre really glad youâve found us.
Whether youâre planning a holiday now or simply gathering ideas for the future, weâre always happy to chat, answer questions or point you in the right direction.
