The Black Horse The Black Horse is a tiny, traditional, two bar pub in the heart of Whitby's old town. We are too small to accommodate groups, or dog pushchairs unless folded.

We offer a great selection of drinks, which perfectly complement our Yapas (Yorkshire tapas) menu, food is served daily from 12 - 9pm. We have 4 en-suite letting rooms which are pet free, but offer a self catering apartment which sleeps 2 and up to 2 dogs. It’s been a busy summer season, thanks to everyone who has come and enjoyed drinks, food and music with us.
August is almost over, so as a thank you to the staff who have worked tirelessly all year, we’ll be closed on Tuesday for a much needed break, and our end of summer staff day out 🍻🥡🥢🍹
We’ll be open again at 12 noon as usual on Wednesday.

With folk week now behind us, our Yapas menu is available again. Whether you’d like some of the classics - pork pies, pates or a sharing board, or one of the specials, including French onion soup, beef & blue or doorstep cheese on toast, it’s all available daily from 12 noon when we open until 9pm (last orders for food 8.45pm) 🧅🧀🥧🐮

We had a fantastic start to folk week yesterday with sessions going on in each bar. It’s way too busy to be running our usual menu, so we have a selection of filled rolls to keep people going!
As usual today is our Folk Week Thank You day, so there’ll be savoury mince available to everyone. Once it’s gone it’s gone!
