A great walk !
Discover two of the North York Moors’ most beautiful waterfalls on this Goathland walking route. 🌊 🌿 Follow the full route and map below. 👇
The Thomason Foss and Mallyan Spout loop is a scenic 5.9-mile walk from Goathland, taking in woodland paths, open countryside, old railway tracks and views across the Esk Valley.
Along the way, you will pass Mallyan Spout, the tallest waterfall in the North York Moors, and the peaceful Thomason Foss, tucked away in a wooded ravine.
This is a moderately challenging route, with some rocky, narrow and boggy sections, especially after rain, so sturdy waterproof footwear is a good idea.
Starting in Goathland, the walk also adds a little local history and filming magic, with links to Heartbeat, Harry Potter, and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
