Any beer drinking guests out there? The local pub does some proper good real ales.

And it is only a short walk from the cottage and a short stumble back. 😅🍻

New Guest beer, the Blackheart is a 4.8% strong dark stout.

Forget the mass-produced stuff you get at the supermarket. Blackheart is a proper stout with real backbone. It is dark, rich, and incredibly satisfying.

While Ghost Porter is smooth and chocolatey, Blackheart is bolder and more roasted. It pours jet black and delivers those classic deep flavours of coffee and molasses.

This is a great walk around Heartbeat Country and not far from Stony Broke Cottage.

Enjoy a storybook stroll through Heartbeat country with a waterfall and village pub. 🍻🚶🌊

This 3-mile circular route from Goathland to Beck Hole takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes and is perfect for families looking for a countryside adventure.

📍 Start in Goathland village
Famous as Aidensfield in Heartbeat, the village is packed with charm. Visitors can explore the tearooms and browse the village shop featured in the show. They can also stop by the Goathland Hotel—better known as the Aidensfield Arms. Keep an eye out for vintage vehicles and familiar filming spots like Scripps Garage.

🚶‍♀️ Follow the road south
As the road bends left, walkers pass open grassy verges (often shared with sheep!) before reaching the edge of the village.

🌿 Mallyan Spout waterfall
Just before the Mallyan Spout Hotel, a signposted path leads down to the magical Mallyan Spout Waterfall. Expect a few steep and muddy sections. The peaceful woodland setting and cascading water make it well worth it.

🌲 Follow the beck to Beck Hole
Head back along the boardwalk and riverside path the same way you came. This time, don’t take the path back up to the Mallyan Spout Hotel. Instead, continue along the beck with woodland on one side and open fields on the other. Descend into the quiet hamlet of Beck Hole.

🍺 Yorkshire’s smallest pub stop
A short detour brings you to the Birch Hall Inn—known as the smallest pub in Yorkshire. It’s the perfect place for a relaxed drink, especially on a sunny day.

⬆️ Return to Goathland
To return, follow the path uphill from Beck Hole, rejoining the road back into Goathland village, completing the loop where your walk began.

Blending iconic filming locations, a hidden waterfall, and one of Yorkshire’s most unique pubs, this Heartbeat-inspired walk is a countryside classic waiting to be explored. 🍃

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Happy St George’s Day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

He represents

Courage and standing up for beliefs,

Good over evil,

Protection and chivalry,

English identity,

Faith and sacrifice…

…so naturally, the most logical way to honour all that would be by giving us a BANK HOLIDAY, right?! 🤣

I mean, if he can slay a dragon, surely someone can sort us a long weekend…

🏡 Stony Broke Cottage is ready and waiting for you… no armour required, just a suitcase and maybe a bottle of something nice 🍷

Hope you’ve had a great St George’s Day whatever you’ve been doing!
