September and October are great months to visit Whitby, not quite so busy, still lovely weather and everything is open and easier to book your favourite restaurant!

Plus the Treasury, Whitby’s new fine dining restaurant is now open for drinks. Food coming soon. Be one of the first the check it out. Find it at the end of Baxtergate near the swing bridge.

Another 24 hours in Whitby this weekend (between bookings) finishing off the new laundry cupboard! It’s now looking super organised and bright and fresh!

Then a few maintenance jobs:

- replaced a lightbulb (not exactly exciting but necessary).

- polished the brass door furniture - it made such a difference!

- mortared some gaps in the flagstones outside to stop those pesky weeds sprouting up overnight.

- sanded and teak oiled the outdoor tables - just need to somehow stop the seagulls from making their mark on them 😡

- topped up the soil in the planters - some flowers on the clematis are just about to bloom! 🌼

- put my new velvet throw and cushion on the bed in the master bedroom. It feels quite luxurious!

- got another storage tub for the outdoor cushions so they can be clean and dry for each guest.

- oh and put my Yorkshire map picture up in the lounge. Great idea to help you decide where to visit next in God’s own country!

No doubt we’ll be back again in a few weeks! Front door getting a refresh (colour change?) and painting the fencing at the rear.

Snook in a single night stay at the cottage in between bookings, as well as some boring behind the scene jobs (the ongoing challenge of making my laundry cupboard into a tardis!!) we are watching with interest the development of The Treasury fine dining restaurant at the harbour-end of Baxtergate and ventured into Sandsend where new independent businesses are cropping up. If you walk towards Mulgrave estate, where there are a few nice walks, there’s also a deli, a ceramics shop, a Gansey shop, lovely cafes and restaurant. Check them out next time you’re here
