Just saying! Less than ten minutes from Number 6. It’s a fabulous walk down to Sandsend, with a pub and a cafe waiting for you when you get there.

New research by outdoor brand Millets has named Sandsend Beach near Whitby the UK’s best autumn beach — praised for its mild weather, sunshine, and stunning coastal walks along the Cleveland Way.

Perfect for autumn strolls, fossil hunts, and a cosy café stop in the village. 🍂☕

Scarborough’s South Bay also made the list — Yorkshire’s coast really is hard to beat! ⚓💙

Goth weekend alert upcoming! We’ve had a cancellation for Goth weekend in our Rooftops room. So, if you thought you’d missed your chance of joining in the fun for Goth weekend, you haven’t!

The room is available from Thursday 30 October to Monday, 3 November. It’s not showing as available on the website, so if you want to grab it, please message or call.

Mr B&B has long wanted pear trees in the garden and three years ago we planted two trees – espalier style – along the garden wall. This year was the best crop yet – not many, but more than in previous years. Not yet sure how I’ll use them. They’re lovely as they are, but a pear and frangipane tart, or perhaps simply baked and served with yogurt for breakfast, are top of the list. Yum.

A little reminder that there is more to a few days in Whitby than the immediate delights of the town! The moors are on our doorstep, giving easy access to plenty of great walks, fabulous views and plenty of beautiful villages and towns to explore. North Yorkshire really does have something for everyone.

Table for five? You’ve got it!

❤❤ This weekend we have five of our favourite guests visiting. It’s always lovely to welcome returning guests back to Number 6, and we're particularly fond of these five! Two of them have been coming since September 2019 (just a couple of months after we opened) … and they liked it so much they often (but not always!) bring three family members along with them too. ❤❤

We have three rooms, and can sleep six, so we’re perfect for smaller groups of family or friends. Get in touch if you’d like to discuss dates when all three rooms are available – we’d love to see you!

Happy Yorkshire Day from Whitby! At Number 6, we're marking the day with a vase of flowers (mostly) from the garden and a tray of freshly baked scones. Just to be clear, the scones are being shared with our weekend guests ...

Last week, one set of guests, who were returning to Number 6 Whitby for the fifth time, said they’d walked right past us because they were looking for our black front door… only now it’s had a spring makeover and is blue! Whatever the colour, we’re always ready to open and welcome you in!

Saturday morning at 7.30am - can a day start better than some early morning exercise by the sea? Just glorious. The weather looks set to be stunning for another week or so - so if you fancy waking up to Whitby next weekend, call us and book!

Hurrah! After a chilly couple of days the sun has returned to North Yorkshire and it looks like it’s going to stay for the next couple of weeks at least … so it seemed like a good time to share this reel and remind you all of the beauty of North Yorkshire! So much to enjoy in and around Whitby.

There was only ever one thing I was going to have for breakfast today. It’s Good Friday, and it can only be Hot Cross Buns and a mug of Yorkshire’s best. Yum. 😋

The guests are keen too – the ones I put on the breakfast table were all snaffled up – but there’s still enough left to offer the guests arriving this afternoon. You never know, I might 'deserve' another one by then!
