Meet Henry, otherwise known as 50 Sense!

Henry retired from racing at the grand old age of 2 and has been living his best life ever since!

Now 7, he's swapped the racetrack for hiking adventures with his owners and has become quite the professional poser along the way.

Safe to say, retirement suits him! 🥹

We’re absolutely delighted to be nominated for a national RTPI Award, following our regional win earlier this year!

It’s fantastic to see The Edge recognised for the positive impact it’s having on Whitehaven and our local community. We’re incredibly proud to be part of it!

Fingers crossed for December! 🤞✨

More award success for The Edge in Whitehaven

Following its win at the RTPI North West Awards for Planning Excellence earlier this year, The Edge, Cumbria’s Coastal Activities Centre in Whitehaven, has now been nominated for a national Royal Town Planning Institute Award in the Excellence in Planning for a Successful Economy category.

The nomination recognises the important role The Edge Hotel - Whitehaven is playing in supporting Whitehaven’s economy, attracting visitors and creating new opportunities for the local community.

Delivered through partnership working and supported by Sellafield Ltd and the Coastal Communities Fund, the team will find out if it has taken home the national award at the ceremony in London this December.

Meet Ava!
Ava joined us at the beginning of August and has been a lovely addition to the team!

Her go-to drink? Hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows (obviously!) Her food of choice is a classic cheese & onion toastie.

Her favourite part of working at The Edge? The wonderful team she gets to work alongside and getting to know all our lovely customers 🥰

Meet Alexi!
Alexi has been part of The Edge team since last November!

Her favourite drink is a white hot chocolate, paired with a ham & cheese toastie.

And her favourite thing about working here? The dogs, of course! Safe to say, our four-legged visitors have a very big fan in Alexi!

🥂 ONE YEAR OF THE EDGE 🥂

It’s quite hard to believe that this time last year, The Edge officially opened its doors.

From hard hats and building plans to busy tables, weekend stays, celebrations, cocktails, dinners and some pretty incredible sunsets over Whitehaven… a lot can happen in 365 days.

The building might be what catches your eye first, but it’s the people inside it that have made The Edge what it is.

To our team, our guests, our regulars, our first-time visitors, everyone who has stayed with us, eaten with us, celebrated with us or simply stopped by for a drink overlooking the harbour, thank you for being part of our first year.

We’re very proud of how far we’ve come, and even more excited about what’s still to come.

🐾 DOG OF THE WEEK 🐾

We had a very special four-legged visitor through the doors last week… meet Marco! 🤍

And he’s not just any four-legged visitor. Marco is a bit of a celebrity back home

No stranger to showbiz, he’s recently finished a run of shows in Brighton, starring as the dog in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

Safe to say, we were more than a little star-struck.
