CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF DUMFRIES & GALLOWAY LIFE!

How exciting is this! Join Sylvia and Carol Hogarth at The New Town Hall, Whithorn, on Tuesday 20 October for a very special afternoon of sharing stories, celebrating our wonderful region and getting creative together!

Carol is a long-standing freelance journalist, writer, and arts editor for Dumfries & Galloway Life, contributing regular features and profiles for well over 15 years. She has helped capture so many of the people, places, and stories that make D&G special. ❤️

Together, we’ll explore the magazine’s last 20 years and create one giant community vision board. The finished artwork will be proudly displayed in our New Town Hall Bunkhouse, alongside a special podcast filled with local voices and stories—giving visitors a real taste of life in Dumfries and Galloway.

This afternoon is all about bringing our community together, sharing memories, having a blether, and creating something very special!

🌟 A SKY FULL OF STARS – COMMUNITY SINGALONG! 🌟

As if we don’t have enough going on… we’ve decided to add something else! 😂🎶

Join All Roads Lead to Stage on Tuesday 13 October, 10:30am–12 noon, at The New Town Hall, Whithorn, and help us learn Coldplay’s A Sky Full of Stars.

We’ll then come together to perform it at our Dark Skies community event on Wednesday evening! 🌙✨

You absolutely do not need to be a singer—this is simply about having fun, trying something new and bringing our community together. We’ll provide all the words, so there’s nothing to learn beforehand and no need to worry!

🌙✨ WHITHORN TOWN DARK SKY FESTIVAL EVENT ✨🌙

We are super excited for our Dark Sky Festival event on Wednesday 14 October, from 6.30–9pm!

This is an evening for our whole community—of all ages—to come together, celebrate our beautiful dark skies and hopefully enjoy some amazing stargazing! ⭐

We’ll be led by the one and only Elizabeth Tindal, Freelance Ranger, starting at the New Town Hall, where Flaming Gorgeous Pizza will be serving everyone a slice of delicious, handcrafted Neapolitan-style pizza. 🍕

After a short talk about stargazing, we’ll head on a gentle walk to the field beside the play park and look up at the night sky.

We’ll then stop at South Machars Community Centre for some cake and a warming hot drink before walking round to the Roundhouse. You can lie down, sit or simply stand and take in the delights of the sky—hopefully the weather will be on our side! 🌌

The Whithorn Trust will have the fire going at the Roundhouse, where we can finish the evening by toasting marshmallows together. 🔥

After a wonderful evening at Sam Heughan’s Wigtown Book Festival event, we are back to the Bunkhouse feeling inspired to stir up a few cocktails! Lovely to hear him speak about his love of the rich history of Galloway and of Whithorn. A book full of tipples ideal to top off your stay at the Bunkhouse after a walk along the Whithorn Way… Sláinte! 🥃📚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
