With the holiday season upon us again, we felt it time to update our "breakfast venues you must visit" list. It's been a beautiful day so, well, why not?
Cheryl was trying to remember a place we visited last year but couldn't place it. A slow drive around town had her recalling, "It's right on the sea front, near that Art Deco house and the hotel."
We both remembered eventually and took a seat at the Beach Cafe in Beach Street. It was packed when we arrived with just one table available, so we grabbed it while we could. A busy cafe is always a good sign, so we were feeling quite positive.
And with good reason. This is a fantastic cafe. We each took a regular breakfast, to which I added mushrooms as an option. The breakfasts come with tea or filter coffee but Cheryl opted for a decaf skinny latte, which was an oncost extra.
Breakfast was amazing. It took a while to arrive but as I said, the place was rammed. We were in no rush anyway and besides, it was clearly freshly cooked. Too often, people are in such a rush to sit down, eat and run out but this was a lovely, leisurely breakfast and we enjoyed it immensely.
Charlotte prided herself on her coffee making and it's no idle boast. Her lattes (I ended up having one after my tea, to match Cheryl's second) are exemplary and better than many a coffee I've had from any of the coffee shop chains.
The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed. Eveyone was busy but all very cheerful and attentive. The value for money is also off the scale. A full English with toast and tea/coffee for a tenner? How can you go wrong? We're definitely coming back next weekend.
