A little Italian rule that might surprise you…

Cappuccino is traditionally a morning drink in Italy.

If you order one after lunch or dinner, you might get a few raised eyebrows.

After a meal, you’re much more likely to see an espresso ordered instead.

Of course, no one is going to stop you ordering a cappuccino, you’re on holiday, after all!

But if you want to order your coffee like a local, now you know.

Poggio Landi is one of those villas that makes it easy to spend time together.

There’s a private tennis court, bocce pitch, table tennis, a huge 16-metre pool and even a separate gym, so there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained when you’re enjoying a day at the villa.

I particularly like the outdoor spaces here. There’s a shaded loggia, a pergola covered in greenery and plenty of room to sit together, whether you’re taking a break between activities or settling in for the evening.

The house has plenty of character too. Dating back to 1820, it was built by a Russian family to celebrate their son’s safe return from military service.

With five bedrooms and space for up to 10 guests, Poggio Landi is a lovely option for families or groups of friends who want a villa where there’s plenty to enjoy without having to go far.

This is a view we could get used to.

Villa Pianvecchio sits just outside Radda in Chianti, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, with gorgeous views in every direction.

We love that you can spend the day by the pool, wander down to the w**e cellar for a tasting, or relax in the steam room when you've had enough exploring.

And when you do fancy heading out, Radda is only 2km away, with a couple of w**eries you can walk to.

Five bedrooms, space for 10 and all of this in the heart of Chianti Classico. What's not to like?

If we had one day in Tuscany, we wouldn’t try to see it all.

We’d start with a slow breakfast at the villa, then head out to explore a small town or village nearby. Stop for a coffee, have a wander, and then find somewhere for a long lunch.

In the afternoon, we’d leave some time to take the scenic route, visit a w**ery or simply stop somewhere that catches our eye.

Then it’s back to the villa for the evening, perhaps dinner outside, a glass of local w**e and time to enjoy where you’re staying.

After helping people plan their Tuscany villa stays, we’ve found that the days people remember aren’t always the ones where they saw the most. Sometimes it’s having the time to enjoy a place without rushing from one thing to the next.

If you're planning a trip around Tuscany, Arezzo is a town worth putting on your list.

Our team has visited Arezzo many times and it's a place we always enjoy exploring. The historic centre has plenty of character, with medieval streets, beautiful buildings and Piazza Grande at its heart.

Piazza Grande is particularly worth seeing on the first weekend of the month, when Arezzo's famous antiques market takes place. The square and surrounding streets fill with stalls, making it a great time to explore the town.

Away from the main sights, there are plenty of cafés, restaurants and independent shops to discover, so you can easily spend a few hours here without needing a packed itinerary.

Meet Castellare di Brolio, in the heart of Chianti Classico, with views straight towards Brolio Castle. Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and rolling countryside, it's a beautiful spot for a stay in this part of Tuscany.

We love the fact you can walk to Brolio Castle for a w**e tasting, so you can leave the car behind for an afternoon.

This villa has six bedrooms and sleeps up to 10 guests, with space for two additional children. There is a private 12m pool, plenty of outdoor space, two lounges, and a traditional pizza oven in the outdoor capanna.

It's also dog friendly, which is always a bonus.

From here, you can explore Gaiole in Chianti and the wider Chianti Classico area, with Florence, Arezzo and San Gimignano all within easy reach for a day out.

A visit to the Uffizi Gallery: art, history, and the magic of Florence

No trip to Florence is complete without a visit to the world-famous Uffizi Gallery. Home to one of the most important Renaissance art collections in the world, the museum showcases masterpieces by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, and many other great artists.

Among the highlights are Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus and Primavera, Michelangelo’s vibrant Doni Tondo, and Caravaggio’s captivating Medusa. But it’s worth looking beyond the most famous works too. The beautifully decorated ceilings are often overlooked and tell fascinating stories of their own.

Our tip: After exploring the gallery, take a break at the café on the second floor. Enjoy a coffee while admiring the wonderful views over Piazza della Signoria.

If I were travelling to Tuscany with a group of friends, La Limonaia would definitely catch my eye.

It's a traditional stone villa split into three connected apartments, so you can have your own space when you want it, but there's still plenty of room to get everyone together.

And then there is that view... The terrace looks across the olive groves of the Serchio Valley towards Lucca, with an infinity pool just below.

Lucca is close by, and you can easily mix up your days with a trip to the beach at Forte dei Marmi, a visit to Pisa, or a walk in the mountains.

A pretty good setup for a group of friends, if you ask us!
