Groom's Cottage is a romantic retreat for two, with four poster bed and ensuite, wood-burning stove, large living/dining area and modern kitchen. Outdoor seating area and BBQ in a sheltered courtyard. Granary is a two bedroom holiday cottage with a four poster bedroom and ensuite (with bath & shower) downstairs, and a twin bedroom upstairs. This morning we enjoyed a beautiful coastal walk from Warkworth to Alnmouth and back, visiting St Cuthbert’s Cross and Mortuary Chapel.
Little is known about the cross other than that it was rumoured to be the location where St Cuthbert agreed to become Bishop of Lindisfarne when petitioned by the king.
We finished with crab bruschetta and chicken burger at the fabulous pop up cafe, Forsyth’s at the car park!
The beach is about 30 minutes from our cottages.

A beautiful day at Cragside, one of our visitors’ favourite places in the area. House, lakes, lots of walks, and delicious ice cream! The rhododendrons are just starting to come out and will be stunning. Cragside was the first house to be powered by hydroelectricity.

A beautiful Spring here at Aln Valley Cottages, with the lambs in the field just outside, the birds singing, and the flowers enjoying the sunshine. Even the bluebells are starting to bloom, which welcome you as you turn into the drive through the woods. We were up last night painting the garden furniture in the courtyard, which is a wonderful evening sun trap!

Perfect Easter Monday exploring the Border Ridge, with skylarks, wild Cheviot goats and Easter bunnies on Windy Gyle, finishing with a pint at the Rose & Thistle in Alwinton!
