Stay At The Bay Accommodation on a beachside farm in Northumberland
7 mile stretch of sandy beach with private acces

We currently offer 2 spaces for holidays and short breaks here at Hemscott Hill Farm. Calico Barn Lodge is a converted barn on the farm sleeping up to 18 guests in bunkrooms. The large space is ideal for family get togethers and group stays. Poppy Cottage is our cosy farm cottage which sleeps 4 and is ideal for dog owners and families with large enclosed gardens.

If you're planning a retreat for 2027, Calico Barn offers a coastal base where you can bring your programme, your guests and your own ideas together.

With accommodation for up to 16, shared spaces for gathering and dining, Druridge Bay beyond the dunes and the option to incorporate Sauna Hetta into your stay, you can shape the experience around the retreat you want to create.

Apparently the Readaway is having a moment and we're very much on board. 📖

The idea is simple: go somewhere lovely with a good book and give yourself permission to do very little else.

Coffee and a few chapters in the morning. A walk along Druridge Bay when you need some fresh air. Back somewhere cosy, fire on, book open.

No sightseeing checklist required.

Because where you stay should be part of the getaway too.

The long breakfasts. Everyone gathering around the table. A glass of w**e by the fire. Wandering down to the beach and coming back with nowhere else you need to be.

At Barn on the Bay, the stay isn't just somewhere to sleep between days out.

Sometimes it's exactly where you want to spend the day. 🌾

Park the car. Put the keys down. You might not need them for a while.

With Druridge Bay just beyond the dunes, some of the best parts of a stay at Barn on the Bay don't involve driving anywhere.

Start with breakfast, wander down to the beach, take your time along the coast, add a Sauna Hetta experience and finish the day back indoors with something good to eat.

Northumberland has plenty to explore but sometimes it's nice not to have to go anywhere at all.

Save this one for a slower weekend by the sea. 🌾

Maybe the best girls’ weekends don't need packed itineraries.

A beautiful place to stay, plenty of room around the table, a beach on the doorstep and enough time to properly catch up might be all you need.

Calico Barn sleeps up to 16, making it perfect for bringing everyone together for a winter weekend on the Northumberland coast.

No alarms. No itinerary. No rushing to fit everything in.

Just coffee when you wake up, a walk along the beach, perhaps some time in the sauna and absolutely no reason not to be back by the fire with a glass of w**e before dark.

Northumberland isn't just for summer 🍂

When the beaches get quieter and the air gets cooler, there’s something rather lovely about having a stretch of coast almost to yourself.

Think long walks through the dunes, autumn days exploring Northumberland and somewhere warm waiting when you get back fire lit, w**e poured and nowhere else you need to be.

At Barn on the Bay, Druridge Bay is just beyond the dunes, making autumn the perfect excuse for a few slower days by the sea.
