After a very successful six and a bit years managing One Park Road, it is time for me and Miss Minny (my dog) to move on...

After a very successful six and a bit years managing One Park Road, it is time for me and Miss Minny (my dog) to move on to pastures new.

One Park Road will cease to trade as a guest house from mid-February 2026 and will shortly reopen again in March 2026 as a holiday home managed by Sykes(Lakelovers District Cottages)

As you all know who have stayed here, it is a spacious house and will be available as a holiday let, accommodating up to 13 guests.

Thank you to each one of you who contributed to the overall success of One Park Road. I have loved every booking, and everyone who stayed here has been absolutely wonderful!

I am sure you will all be wondering where we are going - well, I am taking early 'semi' retirement and heading back to sunny South Africa to the rest of my family and sorely missed friends.

Again, thank you for the happiest 6 years of my career!

Hello to you all. Spring/Summer has been a hectic one for me! It was great to see how bookings increased by about 300% from the Far East sector. Overall bookings are on the up each year, I am so pleased. One thing I have noticed is that One Park Road is ranked number 6 for Guesthouses in the greater Windermere area. Business will quieten down for the next few months - I need a break! However I just wanted to thank you all if you visited this year - as always it was a pleasure to host/look after you all. If you are thinking about visiting The Lakes do feel free to contact me directly so I can do a 'special' deal for you!

Our Story

1 Park Road is set in a quiet residential area of Windermere in the beautiful Lake District. We are just a short stroll from the centre of Windermere and Bowness. We have worked hard to have perfected this award winning Lake District luxury bed and breakfast that offers all those little extras discerning guests have come to expect from a quality bed and breakfast in Lake District.

Our home that we share with you dates back to 1883 started out originally as a gentleman's home. Opulence abounds here, stained glass windows, ornate ceiling roses, interesting chandeliers, wooden floors and a very commanding staircase up to the rooms. Light abounds in every window (when the sun shines). This grand old lady sits atop a small hill commanding to be awed, pass by our small garden and you will see why so many passers by compliment us on how wonderful it looks! The bedrooms are modern- the luxury rooms have king sized beds-and all the room have flat screen TVs, bath robes lovely fragranced liquid hand and body soaps and lotions, fresh coffee, cafeterias , fresh milk and tea.... tea leaves and tea pots- very English...and then there is breakftast. “Ahh, what a feast or culinary experience” as was described by one guest. Various fruit compotes, yogurts, fruit salads, marmalade and jams, cooked English breakfast with a choice of how you want your eggs done. Our meats and eggs for breakfast are all locally sourced. If you order a poached or fried egg, don’t be surprised to see a double yolk!

Our home is open to you. Enjoy the comforts we offer. The Lake District is right on your doorstep. Live it, love it and come back soon for more!
