BEST FAMILY WALKS in the LAKES!
Whether you are looking for "mini-mountain" peaks to make the kids feel like giants or easy strolls with a sea breeze, the Lake District (and its underrated coastline) has it all.

Here's our selection of family-friendly walks:

⛰️ The "Mini-Mountain" Adventures

Catbells (Keswick): The ultimate "family first" fell. It’s a short, sharp climb with some light, fun scrambling that makes kids feel like professional hikers.

Latrigg (Keswick): If you want the view without the vertical struggle, this is it. It’s one of the lowest fells but offers a "big mountain" feel overlooking Keswick.

Tip: Park at the Gale Road car park for a very short, accessible path to the viewpoint.

Orrest Head (Windermere): Famous for being Alfred Wainwright’s first ascent. It’s a gentle, paved climb from Windermere village that leads to a 360-degree view of the lake.

🌊 The Hidden Coastline

St Bees Head: This is the Lake District's dramatic edge. The walk along the red sandstone cliffs offers incredible bird watching (look for puffins!)

Ravenglass & Muncaster: Start in the only coastal village in the National Park. You can walk the Roman Bath House ruins or head to Muncaster Castle for its famous "Wild Trail" and owl displays.

Silecroft Beach: A massive stretch of coastline under the shadow of Black Combe. Perfect for a sunset walk while the kids run wild. Pop into Sunset Cafe for refreshments!

🍦 Lakeside Strolls & Fairytale Falls
Perfect for: Pushchairs, toddlers, and picnic lovers.

Tarn Hows: Often called the most beautiful spot in the Lakes. It’s a flat, circular 2-mile path that is fully accessible for pushchairs.

Aira Force (Ullswater): A magical woodland walk leading to a thundering 65ft waterfall. It feels like a scene from Lord of the Rings.

Cathedral Quarry (Little Langdale): A "secret" cave walk. This massive, man-made cavern (the "Cathedral") is awe-inspiring for kids.

Quick Safety Check: Even "easy" walks can get chilly in the Lakes. Always pack an extra layer and check the weather before heading out!
