✨Experienced Stockperson Wanted for Organic, Regenerative Upland Farm✨
📍Windermere, The Lake District, Cumbria
This role will suit someone with enthusiasm for organic, mixed farming.
⛰️1250ac organic upland farm where livestock graze every day of the year with an outdoor lambing system and reliance on deferred grass to satisfy winter demand.
*THE ROLE*
- Daily management of sheep and native breed cattle
- Routine farm jobs; tractor work (silage/hay making), fencing, walling (willingness to learn), general farm maintenance
- Working within/alongside agri-environment schemes, Organic regulations/principles
- Expectation to work outside ‘normal’ work hours and longer hours depending on time of year (lambing, harvest etc)
- Need to manage grazing using electric fences at certain times of the year
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE…
- Attention to detail: we monitor stock performance regularly and manage grazing for specific outcomes, knowledge or willingness to engage with this farm policy is essential
- Great ability to manage and care for livestock, although this is an outdoor reared extensive system, focus on quality is key
- Confidently working with large stock numbers
- Ability to work alone and part of a small team and manage your own time, making daily decisions
- Enthusiasm, energy, positive attitude, honesty, willingness to learn
MANDATORY
- Full UK driving license
- Experience towing livestock trailers
- Working sheep dogs
