It's interesting not just that tulips continue to grow after picking ( I think a lot of people know that) but that they straighten in the fridge.

Personally I like a wavy tulip and didn't put them there to make them stand to attention, ( it was to slow down opening), but they straightened within 24 hours.

Perhaps due to lack of light? I don't know.

Hosting on a shoestring 😊
Daffs... home grown on the allotment
Dish... ( Cancer Research Oakham)
Coaster...made by me
Small vase...Charity shop (can't remember which one)

I'm most proud of the daffs. I know they're really easy to grow, but it is so satisfying to grow your own flowers.

Someone asked me the other day if the Chapel still looks the same as it did a couple of years ago when ( let's just say it had a moment in the sun)
Understandable as I don't post photos of it very often now. I took these yesterday.

I've run out of windows on the chapel to draw Peter Pan scenes, real or imagined , so I've started on our house.
Wendy is trying to get Tinkerbell to land on her hand ( I'm pretty sure this never happened and if it had Tink would've been mad with the indignity, but Wendy would've loved it; she was bewitched by fairies)

The Chapel is still lit up for Christmas...I can't help myself, I'm not ready to let it go.

The face of Wendy is based on an old photo of Audrey, who very sensibly doesn't like her photo publicly on social media . It's her 13th birthday today. A short chunk of time looking back, but almost unimaginable looking the other way. We are very proud of Audrey and also the other young people she brings into our lives. They take on today's complicated world with maturity, grace and enthusiasm.

I was in the Chapel yesterday and I wondered what it looks like with the lights off and just the fairy lights on. I was guessing that this is what the guests see when they switch off the lights and go to bed ( though they probably close the blinds and the fairy lights go off by about 10, so maybe not).

It's part of letting out a place that you prepare it, usually for a stranger, not having any idea if they'll like it, and the next time you see it is after they've gone - I go in and am struck by the changes brought about by what has happened in between.
It's a small part of how I process what we do and if we do it well ( I don't read reviews because I find them hard to read - my other half reads and responds to them- and anyway reviews don't necessarily tell the real story of the stay).

Apart from our own guest book where people leave us messages, I take in the little clues left behind, especially after a celebration...glitter, broken balloons, little bits of candy cane, a cork that crash landed into a plant pot...I love finding them because it's those things that really tell the story.

I'm leaving up my Peter Pan windows for now. Is it me or does everything suddenly seem dreary when decorations dissappear?
It's Panto Season so they'll fit in with that and hopefully not seem out of place.
