This will be the last thing I say regards to the weekend. As you know from my posts, I decided after 2 years of being talked out of it, I stood my ground and decided that I was going to box in this years Battle at the seaside event. I've supported this fabulous event and will most definitely continue to.
It was a hard journey, training in the gym and training with the absolutely amazing professional trainers for 8 weeks.
I want to thank also mick from eastside gym who let us go and see how it all works within a boxing gym and give us a chance yo sparr with his avery talented team.
My inspiration for this was one person Mel Fellows, this amazing, brave gorgeous human is terminally ill with Sarcoma Cancer, after being misdiagnosed by the NHS she is my inspiration, my strength and now one of my closest friends. Please see my link in previous posts and donate a little to Sarcoma UK.
Fight day nerves, determination and strength got me through 3 tough rounds of boxing, even at my age I held my side strongly and although the win was deserved by my opponent, I felt very proud that I achieved what I did.
The highlight of this year was most definitely winning the Best Female boxer of the day. Very emotional and very surprised but proud that I actually did it.
I can never thank enough tbe support, the determination and dedication that Nathan iley and his dad Gary iley put into this event to make ir what it is.
If anyone wants to have a go next year, contact nathan when it gets advertised. People think its the easiest thing to get into a ring and throw a few punches but it is so much more intensive than that. I fully guarantee that you will come out with a massive respect for this sport, for yourself and what actually goes into this sport to keep you safe.
