Located within a secluded and idyllic setting of a third of an acre of woodland, the timber lodge was built as a holiday let and opened for business in 2008. Standing by itself in the shadow of a giant redwood, it’s a magical place and one we fell in love with within thirty seconds of visiting for the first time. We were fortunate enough to be able to take the property and business on ourselves in

December 2018 and take bookings directly via our website (theoldquarrysomerset.co.uk), where you can see availability and prices as well as finding out more about the property and surrounding area and see what our previous guests have made of their stays. Just 30 mins from The Old Quarry, in the month of February, you can visit Snow Drop Valley. Yesterday, we popped over for our first muddy exploration. It was well worth a visit, with appropriate footwear! Our area continues to be hit hard with rain, so while it was a welcome relief to be able to get out for a bit, the ground requires careful navigation!!

Here's our mash-up of guest reviews from last month. As ever, you can read the full reviews on our site. Safe to say that they all loved their stays, which leads us to mention that October Half Term is still free and is now at a much lower price.

"Such a beautiful cabin; so welcoming, beds so comfortable, a real feeling of home from home. Everything we needed throughout has been catered for, which took the faff out of everything! The cabin is cosy, clean and tidy. Perfect! Loved the swing; perfect first thing in the morning. The peace in nature and the stunning wildlife around the cabin is just fantastic. It is very tranquil; just what we needed! Wivey farmers market great plus lovely shops. People were so friendly too. The communication between ourselves and owners has been second to none. This was the perfect place for us - did us the world of good. Hard to leave! Would definitely recommend and we hope to re-visit in the future”

We are now in full bloom at The Old Quarry. While the changeover today was long, frustrating and exhausting, I so enjoyed the wild colours and the bouncy rat that certainly keeps the squirrels on their toes - or more accurately, fleeing for their lives! Couldn't quite manage a video of that bit!
