Good afternoon Wokingham

It's Friday and it's a busy old weekend in town starting off tonight with Eddie taking a break from A'Level exam revision to bring his Alt Music Night from 8pm.

Tomorrow, Dukes Disco takes a back seat as Elms Field will be hosting this year's Party in the Park, organised by Wokingham Town Council from 3pm.
If the weather lets you down, we are open with warmth and drinks a plenty! To beat the queues, we have take away drinks options, and you can order food from Miimi's Kitchen and Wok Zone too!

And on Sunday - you have been warned- it's back! Karaoke, from 4pm. No talent required just lots of enthusiasm! Phelix has promised (or threatened depending on your point of view) to sing Barbie Girl for us again and I'm hearing rumours of a punk performance of Tatu by Eddie. Get your vocal chords ready and come sing your heart out with us and Vinyl Nirvana

This just in, and we are always trying to please you Dukers, from next Thursday we will be opening from 1pm. Why not grab lunch from Elton and enjoy it with a pint in the beer garden or bar?

Come along to the community pub on Denmark Street, where there's always music just not necessarily in tune.....

Good morning Wokingham

Tonight you can join in with our fortnightly Ukulele Jam from 7.30pm- new members are always welcome or just come and give them some requests!

On Friday we have our Alternative music night from 8pm

It's now Pride Month in the UK and as always we are supporting the wonderful gang from Wokinghampride- the entire Pride Festival on Elms Field is organised by a team of fantastic volunteers and made possible by sponsors and fundraising efforts throughout the year.
This year's Wokingham Pride takes place on 11th July with the after-party at ours.

One of the stalls will be a Tombola and we are on the look out for prizes to be donated, so if you can donate a prize then please drop them off with us for safe keeping!

The LGBTQ group will be joining us for karaoke this Sunday from 4pm so come along and meet them whether you're part of the community or an ally.

Have a great week and come and say hello at your community pub on Denmark Street!

Good morning Wokingham

With the weather not quite as warm we are getting ready to open from 3pm.

On our day off we got some work started on the Beer Garden to get it looking pretty for summer fun!

This week we have Ukulele Jam on Wednesday from 7.30pm- the gang are happy to invite new members to their group so pop along and meet them.

On Friday Eddie is taking over with a night of Alternative music from 8pm. We are the only alternative night in the area!

Saturday it's Party in the Park across the road at Elms Field, and Team Dukes will be offering take away drinks throughout the day. You can also grab a bite to eat from Miimi's Kitchen or Wok Zone to beat the queues at the concert.

And Sunday, god help us all, it's the return of Karaoke from 4pm. No talent required just a huge dose of enthusiasm!

So whatever the weather and whatever your plans, make it a week where you visit your community pub on Denmark Street!

Good evening Wokingham

For those not watching the football, Eddie is currently behind the booth playing a range of classics for Dukes Disco.

We had the pleasure of welcome back our fantastic local MP Clive Jones for an update on how we've got on in the last two years since we arrived at a very different Dukes Head

We discussed how we keep the doors open and the lights on, things we've learned, our wonderful regulars and clubs, and what we are looking to introduce in the future. We are immensely lucky to have a council and MP who genuinely take an interest in local issues and it was great that Elton managed to show off his skills from the Wagon.

Always a pleasure Clive and we hope to see you again soon!

Tomorrow, it's LGBTQ Club with Wokinghampride from 2-4pm, and that's followed by The Frailers gang from 7pm.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the last few days of Half Term!

Good morning Wokingham

The heat has somewhat calmed and we will be ready to open at 3pm.

Ciders? You asked, we've improved what we offer!
Now serving Koppaberg Strawberry and Lime and Old Mout Mango and Passion fruit to go along with our existing range- better yet the Old Mout is Gluten Free. We offer Alcohol free ciders too. We also now have Desperados in the fridge so if you want us to consider a new drink let us know.

Tonight we have Simon Williams with our monthly Open Mic Night from 8pm, always a popular evening due to the varied range of talent on show so get down early.

We are starting off our World Cup Sweepstake tonight, minimum donation is £1 with all money to be donated to Wokingham Pride. You'll get a random team to support and if they win, you win a prize!

Tomorrow we have Dukes Disco from 8pm with Eddie who will be announcing another Alt Night soon for all you lovers of goth, rock, and emo.

And we round off the week with Wokinghampride and their fantastic LGBTQ+ and Ally Group from 2-4pm, followed by The Frailers Bluegrass Jam from 7pm

Have a great weekend, and come join us at your community pub on Denmark Street!

Good morning Wokingham

In a change to plans for today, we won't be going ahead with our May Day BBQ.

We have taken the decision based on the extreme heat and how much heat the garden gets. Whilst we will be open for Bank Holiday, we will be open at 3pm for drinks. You're welcome to use the garden but please be sensible, wear sunscreen, bring a hat and remember heat like we are expecting can hit you very quickly- it certainly has hit both of us in the last few days.

Looking at the rest of the week, Sunday will be cooler so we will host the BBQ then.

Sorry for any disappointment but with a heat warning in place, it's sensible (and wouldn't be fun for Ed cooking over hot coals all afternoon).

Inside we will have all the windows open to get some air in.

Looking to the rest of the week, we have Vinyl Club in tomorrow from 7.30pm- gather all vinyl enthusiasts whatever your chosen genre.
We also host darts as the Summer League kicks off from 8pm.

On Thursday it's Art Club with Wokingham Life-Drawing Society from 7pm.

And on Friday Simon Williams is back with Open Mic Night from 8pm. Remember, under 18s can perform as long as you get here early!

Saturday it's Dukes Disco with Eddie from 8pm

Sunday we welcome back our Wokinghampride LGBTQ Club from 2pm, and from 7pm the Frailers will be jamming in the Snug.

Keep cool, keep hydrated and we will see you at the community pub on Denmark Street!

Good afternoon Wokingham
It's Sunday and we open at 2pm so pop by for some end of the weekend relaxation.

Thanks to everyone who joined us last night for the Eurovision finals, we had a great laugh cheering everyone on and congrats to Bulgaria for winning.

With that in mind I would just like to take this opportunity to be serious for a moment with a little reminder.

We pride ourselves on being a safe space for all, and welcome anyone who is out for a good fun time.
We do not, under any circumstances, tolerate Homophobic or transphobic abuse. We will ask you to leave and if you are barred, you are barred permanently. You will also find yourself barred from pretty much every pub in the town centre
The same goes for racism, sexism, drugs or antisocial behaviour.
We want you to feel at home but leave any outdated views in your own living room.

We know 99% of you will know this doesn't apply to you as our customers regular or otherwise are a great bunch. For the small amount of you it does apply to, please go elsewhere.

Back to usual messages, we are closed tomorrow, but on Tuesday have darts practice for the summer league (and we are looking for new members), Wednesday is Ukulele Jam and D&D clubs from 7.30pm, Friday we have music from Dirty Boots and Eddie will be back Saturday at the normal time of 8pm for Dukes Disco.

Have a great week and come and see us down at your community pub (for everyone) on Denmark Street.
