The Provincial Junior Warden WBro Somra enjoyed a wonderful evening with the Brethren of Walton Walker and Sandwell Lodge and watched WBro DUNNE get installed into the Master’s chair for the fifth time.
The visitors enjoyed an amazing ceremony and festive board where the joy of visiting was extolled and Brethren encouraged to enjoy the adventures of Staffies Go Walkies inside and outside the Province of Staffordshire.
We look forward to your questions about joining Freemasonry and your future company.

Today Concordia has a fantastic honour to carry the DKW David Kenneth Williams loving cup which encourages visiting to our friends in Telford.
Please come to 211 Tettenhall Road to see it off at 9am. The Worshipful Master has put enormous efforts into organising this journey, so let’s show our support and appreciation. Bacon butties are provided. We are also raising money for charity 👍👍🏾

St Peter’s Lodge was proud to be involved.

Concordia Lodge 5131 had a guest speaker Susan Porter Baumforth who works as a forensics lead within the police.

She gave us a talk on forensic matters which was a wonderful Segway to discuss the Lilly foundation which deals with mitochondrial disease.

We hoped to raise a small amount for the foundation but as word spread about the talk other lodges asked for it to be given on their zooms.

The Lilly foundation soon had lodges from multiple provinces donating to the foundation.

Not only did lodges donate but other orders were very kind and donated as well.

In total just over £3000 was raised and has been presented to Liz, Lily’s mum,
together with the various letters from the different lodges at her home.

It is an understatement to say she was delighted.

As she told W Brothers Dunne and Lutton it was not just the amount raised but the greater awareness which had been created. She was also very interested in reading all about the different lodges backgrounds.

The funds raised will be greatly valued by the Lily Foundation.

The flowers were for Liz herself in recognition of the work she puts in to it.

One person can achieve something, but when we as lodges and other orders including the lady Masons get together and work in harmony we can achieve a great deal more

The month of March was designated by Cancer Research as a challenge to walk 10,000 steps a day.

This was to remind us of how serious Cancer can be and to create awareness of the Research needed to ensure that we will beat it in the future.

In late February, while on a walk along the unused railway track to Wombourne and back along the Staffordshire Canal tow path, with W Bro Wayne Lutton an idea germinated.

The challenge to the Brethren of Concordia Lodge 5131, The Wolverhampton University Lodge, to walk 5,000,000, yes Five Million Steps, between us.

On reaching this target we would donate £100 to Balls to Cancer. A local Cancer charity based in Bilston.

The problem we had as a lodge was simply we were too old or too young. Being too old meant that we were restricted by how fast our zimmer frames could negotiate the corners.

Being too young meant that there was no good reason for exercise which as not essential, i.e getting up and going to the bathroom.

It was looking as if we were going to keep the £100 in our Charity account.

St Peters Lodge 419 have also decided to have their own challenge and donate £100

We have also had a private donation of £50.

Remembering our Motto “ Lodges working in Harmony” we extended the challenge for other Lodges to join with us.

Walton Walker and Sandwell Lodge 3847 who meet in West Bromwich, yes Wolves and Baggies working in Harmony, accepted our invitation.

They also pledged another £100 for the Balls to Cancer Charity.

This was still not enough and so we extended the invitation to family members, friends, clients and anyone we met who could walk and count.

All we needed were some basic rules.

Taking a dog for a walk did not count as three peoples steps by adding the dogs four legs.

Putting a hamster on a wheel and count the revolutions would also not count.

I can clarify that after scrutiny we completed 8,071,594 steps in March.

I would like to confirm, however, that

Fiona Caddick a long distance endurance walker helped in the challenge and is again challenging herself.

Please see the attached link.

We have also established that the step counter shows approx 2,500 steps to a mile.

Completing 8,071,594 steps equates to approx 3228 miles.

It is approx 135 miles from Linden House to UGLE in London.

We walked to UGLE to find the place closed, not a biscuit or cup of coffee. I would have thought that having a Brother in high place i.e W Bro Peter Grand Assistant Pursuivant, he may have opened the door for us. So we returned back to Linden House.

Unfortunately this was also closed

Twelve times we made that round trip and then fortunately April came and we all sat down and rested.

Mel Eves the ambassador for Balls to Cancer received the cheque for £300 from W Bro Wayne Lutton.

Thanks to all who participated
