Forgot to post this last week - so massive apologises to my father!!

He has completed Walk the Wight again at the tender age of 78 (yes, yes - he is in better nick than I am 😃😅😏😳🤔 )

‘Hello to all my supporters,

The most perfect walking conditions with bright sunshine and a cool breeze greeted us last Sunday.

It was hard going but we made it in 11 hours and 8 minutes - a little slower than last year but we did stop for an ice cream! There were over 6,000 walkers this year so the atmosphere was electric and we were carried along on a wave of enthusiasm.

To those of you who have already donated to the Hospice ... a big thank you and I'm still hoping that together we can reach the £1000 target.

I'll start my training for next year's walk just as soon as the aches and pains have disappeared!

Warm good wishes to you all for the summer ahead

Hi Everyone, Our Dad (Peter Foister) is Walking the Wight again (27 miles, crazy crazy man) any donations are gratefully received.

From the man himself:
'I hope that you are all in peak condition and smiling as we enjoy this beautiful spell of warm sunshine.
My reason for contacting you is to let you know that 'Walk the Wight' is finally back with us next Sunday 12th September 2021.
I'll be trying to complete the 27-mile walk from Bembridge to Alum Bay again along with some 8,000 other walkers, some even running it in costume.
One thing's for certain, the atmosphere will be one of joy and fun as we all try to help those less fortunate than ourselves by raising urgently needed money for the Island's Mountbatten Hospice.
The weather's looking perfect so I'm looking forward to it - except the 6am start!
If you feel you can support me again this year with a donation I'll be delighted - last year my 'virtual walk' of 250 miles raised £1650 so I'm hoping we can reach this years' target of £1000. The link to donate is at the bottom of this email.

4 weeks to go till the IOW festival - want to go but not go camping! 😐😬

Why not hire a quality luxury cottage sleeping up to 6 and have hot running water for showering, proper comfy beds and a beautiful location to chill each the next morning (and have a decent breakfast! 🍽 ) after the previous day and evenings activities 💃🏻🕺🏻🎪🎤🎼🎶🔊📣🥂🍻☀️🎉🎊👊🏼👍🏼😎🌅🎇🎆❤️💖

Based 3 miles from the site in Newport (we are in wootton) and totally easy to get to - it makes sense IMO

Situated along a private road within a 9-acre estate, this holiday property is ideal for exploring the many attractions.

This semi-detached ground floor holiday apartment was once the old kitchens of this Victorian house, which was formerly the summer residence of the Countess of Cowley, a member of Queen Victoria’s entourage. It is set within a beautiful 9-acre estate surrounded by woodland and the coast. Bodwen Corner Cottage has been designed with families and small groups in mind; there is a cosy living room and 3 bedrooms that have carefully coordinated interiors and contemporary furnishings. The family bathroom and en-suite have both been decorated to a very good standard. The spacious open plan kitchen/diner has doors leading out to the patio and gardens where you can enjoy the peaceful surroundings and you may even spot one of the infamous red squirrels. The property also had the added bonus of an outdoor tap, perfect for washing off walking boots and bikes.
4 miles away is the seaside town of Ryde with its good selection of individual shops, restaurants, bars, tea shops and large sandy beach. There is also an abundance of attractions to visit which include; the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and Museum of Havenstreet (3¼ miles), and Osborne House, which was a former royal residence that was built for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as a summer home and rural retreat (4¾ miles). Robin Hill Country Park offers exciting rides and adventure play all set in beautiful rolling down land and forest (4½ miles). Also worth a visit, is Amazon World, an educational and conservation centre offering over 200 animal species and rain forest plants (7½ miles), and Calbourne Water Mill (11 miles), the only working water mill on the Isle of Wight which also features a small War Museum, rural exhibits and a café. The island is also a walker’s paradise, filled with over 500 miles of footpaths across contrasting landscapes and beaches. Outdoor pursuits include walking, cycling, riding, sailing and fishing. Beach 500 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
