Steakhouse and pub style food, all fresh with a seasonally changing menu. Main course prices average £9 - £12 and steaks range from £11 - £15. Very easy style - with mostly table service, but you can go to the bar if you prefer.The Oak is the site of the old and 'infamous' French House and the wine bottle ceiling is still very much inevidence. The present format was developed with the owners ( Bri

tish Country Inns) by Darren Hales supported by Alex Nicoll. Darren has moved on now ( 2012) to a Bath gastro pub business. The Pub is now managed by Mark and Louise Sizer - a really likeable and creative couple from Cornwall. They had most recently developed with Alex Nicoll a similar business in Ironbridge Shropshire, so they plan to carry on Darren's good work - but evolving their own style too.

Another sneak peek at a new dish from our upcoming new evening menu, available from 6pm this Friday (13th Feb) - Crispy Chicken Parmigiana. Here’s another starter from our new menu - Honey Breaded Brie. Served with apple & cranberry relish and dressed micro herbs. We had this on the specials board a couple of weeks ago and it went down a storm! So we’re pleased to bring it back again. Available from 6pm this Friday (13th Feb)
