Popular Cumbrian Inn conveniently situated to explore the unspoilt Western Lake District and Solway Coast, and for visiting the area on business. The Old Ginn House Inn has been successfully converted from a 17th century farm into a charming Inn built around an appealing courtyard with a patio area. Quality en-suite accommodation and excellent food served in our atmospheric Dining Areas and unique Ginn Room Bar where in bygone times, horses walked around turning the grindstone to crush the crops, known as 'ginning'. *

The Old Ginn House Inn aims to ensure you have a most relaxing and enjoyable stay.

*A ginn-gang (or local area names of ginn-house, ginn-case, ginn-race) was a covered building where the ‘ginn’ (which is short for engine) was the power to drive a small threshing machine, and the horse did the ‘gang’ or going. The ginn was connected by cogs to a spindle, which was connected to a shaft attached to a horse, which turned the spindle and powered the machine by ‘ganging’ (walking) round.
