Patrick and Claire are resident landlords of the Helyar Arms and are welcoming and friendly. Both of them have roots in the Home Counties but feel their home is the West Country with both of them having family living nearby in Somerset and Dorset. Patrick ran pubs when he was younger and Claire has been in the Hospitality business for many years and when The Helyar Arms became available they jumped at the opportunity to become part of this quintessential village community.

📰 A little village pub with a lot to be proud of… ❤️

As another week begins here in East Coker, we thought we'd share something that still makes us smile!

Last November, The Helyar Arms was featured in Somerset Life magazine, celebrating Patrick and Claire's journey, the history of our wonderful old pub and the community that makes it so special.

From bringing a much-loved village pub back to life to creating somewhere locals, visitors, walkers and four-legged friends can all feel at home, it's been quite a journey!

And while we're incredibly proud of our history, we're just as excited about what's coming out of our kitchen today! 🍽️

Our Weekday Lunch Meal Deal is the perfect excuse to pop in this week, with delicious dishes including our hearty pie of the day and plenty of other tempting choices.

There's something rather lovely about this time of year in East Coker. The evenings are drawing in, there's a definite chill in the air, and at The Helyar Arms, the fire is lit and the welcome is as warm as ever. ❤️

As another busy week comes to a close, what better excuse to settle into a cosy corner of our historic country pub?

Our new autumn menus have arrived at The Helyar Arms, with lots of delicious new dishes alongside the Helyar favourites you already know and love.

As the weather gets cooler, we’ve brought in some wonderfully comforting choices; from slow-cooked beef short rib with garlic mash and red w**e gravy, to roasted chicken with lemon & thyme risotto, our Helyar pie of the day, fresh fish and plenty more. 🍽️🔥

The faces, the horses, the old cars and a very familiar building at the heart of it all.

The Helyar Arms has seen generations come and go, and while the village around us has changed, the pub remains a place to meet, eat, drink and share stories. 🍻

We love these wonderful old photographs and the little piece of local history they preserve.
