Great night celebrating our 150th Anniversary last night. There were 95 in the Lodge Room, 89 Dining at the Festive Board. Our WM said ‘’Brethren, what a great night for the Lodge in every way. Everyone played their part and so thank to you all. However special mention must be made of the excellant band of stewards led by Michael, what a team you have and how hard you worked. An immense thank you to you all’’.

Eboracum’s latest meeting was an excellent ceremony in which Bro. Sam Robson was initiated into the craft; the 4th initiation ceremony carried out by the Worshipful Master Jim Cooper and his team this year. The lodge welcomed R.W. Bro. James Newman, the Provincial Grand Master of the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding and a member of our Lodge, as well as many visitors including W. Bro. Simon Simpson, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master in his first visit since taking office, his Director of Ceremonies W. Bro Adam Robson and the Worshipful Masters of 5 lodges.
Following the ceremony, the brethren moved downstairs and sat down to an excellent festive board. The Assistant Provincial Grand Master took the opportunity to give the brethren an outline of the plans the Provincial Executive team have to move the Province forward in the future in a positive way; plans which were well received. The atmosphere throughout was vibrant with the brethren thoroughly enjoying themselves with a sense of togetherness, warm friendship and conviviality throughout. The evening finished with happy brethren departing on their journeys home in “Peace, Love and Harmony”.
The countdown is now on towards the Lodge’s 150th anniversary meeting on Monday 10th August which the Provincial Grand Master and his team will be attending. If any brother wishes to join us for what should be an excellent evening, you would be most welcome and you just need to contact the lodge Secretary ([email protected] or 07578 112525) to book your place. We hope to see you there.

Did you know that the Masonic Hall on St Saviourgate, York was originally built in 1846 for the Institute for Popular Science and Literature?

Now it's hoping to get a face lift to keep it going for another 180 years: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly9lnyd8q8o

What a great rehearsal last night which saw Sam and Jim H performing new pieces of ritual for the first time and Dean our Junior Deacon filling his office with his usual aplomb. It all points positively towards Monday’s (13th July) initiation ceremony for our new candidate Sam Robson, the fourth initiate this year. It should be an excellent evening with over 45 brethren attending including the Assistant Provincial Grand Master Simon Simpson and his Director of Ceremonies Adam Robson and 5 Worshipful Masters from other lodges. It’s still not too late if you would like to attend and of course you would be made most welcome."

For 40 years, St Leonard’s Hospice has provided care and support for terminally ill people and people with life limiting illnesses. Their patients’ needs are their priority, and the care they provide is designed to make the best of the rest of their lives.

The next item on their list to improve care is to provide five more “cuddle beds” so that every bedroom in the Hospice has one. A "cuddle bed" is a specialist medical bed that expands from a standard single bed into a double bed. It allows terminally ill patients to safely lie, cuddle and sleep beside their loved ones during their final days. They have set a target of raising £75,000 to fund these beds.

To help them towards achieving their target, Eboracum Lodge who are well known by local charities as a caring lodge, presented a cheque for a £500 to the Hospice.

For more information about helping St. Leonard’s Hospice achieve their target, please contact Clare Meadley, Community and Events Fundraiser ([email protected])

Well, what an Instruction Lodge we had on Friday evening with new faces in new offices; we all had a really relaxing and enjoyable time. Congratulations to everyone on the excellent work you carried out. Derek calmly took the chair for the first time and looked comfortable whilst learning what's involved in being WM. Likewise for the first time Josh, Mike J, Sam and David S as SW, JW, SD and JD respectively; all really well done and very impressive. Mihai as candidate for the first time was able to see what he went through on his initiation. All signs show what a good foundation we have as the Lodge moves forward."
