Four self-catering eco-friendly timber framed, adults only, holiday lodges in 20 acres of deciduous woodland, overlooking a lake.

Within the tranquil setting at The Great Wood, there are 4 adult only, fully equipped self catering lodges, surrounded by 20 acres of deciduous woodland. The luxurious timber framed lodges have a galleried roof and wooden oak floors throughout. They have been built on eco friendly principles incorporating flax and recycled newspaper for insulation, plant oil based paints, water conservation and en

ergy saving lighting. Douglas fir cladding has been used on the outside which has been protected with eco friendly paints so that, the lodges blend in with the woodland environment. The lodges are light and airy in the summer and warm and cosy in the winter. The lodges have one double bedroom with an en suite shower room and one twin bedded room, sleeping 4. There is an additional shower room adjacent to the twin bedded room. The shower rooms have tiled floors. The bedrooms are situated to the rear of the lodge. The open plan lounge/dining and fully equipped kitchen areas are situated to the front on the lodge with patio doors opening out onto a covered veranda with patio furniture which overlooks the fishing lake. Here the visitors can relax, unwind, watch and enjoy the wild life in all weathers. The veranda leads down 2 steps to a flagged stone area where there are barbeque facilities, it has been known for visitors to have barbeques in winter! Your own parking is available at the rear of the lodge.

Hi everyone!

It has been a while since we’ve posted on here (thank you for keeping us so busy!) but we wanted to let you know about some recent changes to our pricing:

The Great Wood has now become VAT registered and we are therefore having to reflect this in our pricing, not only to comply with tax regulations but to also be able to provide you with the same quality of services you have come to expect from us.

As most of you know, we have tried our best to keep our prices as low as possible post-covid and during this cost of living crisis, as we know how much we all need a holiday without breaking the bank, however this one is out of our hands!

We deeply value all of your loyalty and support, and hope that you understand the reason behind our price adjustments and hope that we continue to see the same faces going forward.

We can’t believe it’s the 1st of May already 🤯 It seems like yesterday that we were watching the geese in the snow, and now the leaves are returning and the geese are waddling around with their chicks! 🍃🐣

It’s been great seeing some familiar faces already this year, and meeting some new ones. Thank you for all your bookings and for keeping us busy!

Each lodge has an open plan living room, dining area and kitchen that looks out onto the lake. A double bedroom with en-suite, a twin room and main bathroom.

As well as decking area at the front of the lodge to enjoy your cup of tea (or 🍷) and watch the wildlife 🐿🦆🦉
