An exciting sight this morning.... Our first Swallow to arrive to the yard.

Over the next few days we are hoping a lot more arrive. They then make Easterside Farm home, nest, hatch off their young before migrating back off for winter.

It really is a sight to see them all.

Hopefully this is the sign that summer is on its way.

A few weeks ago we had the devastating news that Isla had a serious illness. A few days later we had to make the hardest decision to say good bye to her.

We are just very grateful that eventhough she was very ill, she did not suffer and was still her happy, bright self until the end.

Its been extremely hard for us, she was only 6.

But what she has done has left her paw print on all our hearts forever and given us her amazing babies, who has filled some many hearts.

She was the most gentle, caring, loyal soul that just wanted to nurture animals and love her humans..... But on a shoot day would work her socks off all day every day, she loved to go beating. There won't ever be another Isla.

Looks like lambing 2026 has started for us!

2 pairs of twins and a single born yesterday.

Its a little earlier than expected, hopefully the ewes were just making use of the sunshine we had yesterday and the rest wait on a few more days until we are more prepared!!

I suppose it's going to be loads of lamb spam for the next few weeks!!

Spring cleaning.

We are very near the end of our spring cleaning. Just the final finishing touches before we welcome our 1st 2026 guests.

Have to say it's not a job we like, but it's a rewarding one once the job is done.

Everyone seems to pick up little tricks and advice over the years..... What's your best spring cleaning secret?

Ours is that we love white vinegar.... Its cleans so much, and leaves a fantastic shine.

Or we always put a cotton pad covered in a lovely smelling essential oil into the hoover. A cheap way to leave your hoover and carpets smelling lovely.
